Citi’s United States Personal Bank has a unique opportunity to leverage its consumer relationships, customer base, footprint, state of the art technology and leading consumer banking position to deliver customer value in a targeted and impactful way. We are seeking to hire a Head of Pricing Strategy and Optimization to be part of the USPB Cards organizations.

The Head of Pricing Strategy and Optimization will report directly to the Head of Pricing and Statement Operations for USPB Cards (Branded Cards and Citi Retail Services) and will be responsible for the management of multiple teams including Pricing Strategy, Analytics, Execution, Testing. This individual will manage the cards businesses pricing strategy aiming at pricing appropriately to drive revenue for customer value vs. risk, is fair, consistent, simple, and transparent. 

The pricing function develops pricing policy and programs to enhance portfolio profitability through risk-based pricing, balance customer experience and ensure regulatory compliance. The team includes analytical expertise and project management/execution. Established discipline facilitates managerial decision making and leads execution of systems changes and customer notification.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Pricing Strategy, Optimization, and Execution/Testing responsibilities include:

  • Responsible to lead a team of 20+ professional analysts, project managers, and testers in multiple geographic locations to create, develop and implement pricing initiatives and strategies to ensure the appropriate balance of profitability (risk/return), operating expense and customer experience.
  • Provide analytic and control thought leadership. Manage and review all work by team. Manage project planning effectively – define scope, direct and prioritize resources, deliver on time and generate the best outcome.
  • Develop comprehensive pricing policy recommendations based on in-depth customer insights (both quantitative and qualitative), sound financial impact forecasting and thorough understanding of competitive landscape and regulatory environment.
  • Ensure robust quality control in pricing processes that adhere to MCA requirements and include disciplined performance tracking process that are efficient and enable continuous learning.
  • Manage overall Change in Terms governance process driving strategy for consistency and efficiency, customers contact and delivery.
  • Drive cross functional review and decisions of policy and new initiative recommendations; Present recommendations clearly and effectively to executive leadership team (Card Pricing Council) for approval on a monthly basis. Requires the ability to interact, communicate and influence independently at a senior level.
  • Understand regulatory implications associated with pricing policy and develop mitigation / opportunity strategies.
  • Drive innovative thinking through leveraging competitive practices and use of new tools/methods to transform the analytical capability of the organization. Explore and evaluate new data sources and technology to identify opportunities to enhance analytical and control capability and decision logic.
  • Deliver results based reporting for Pricing and engagement with Finance to update financial forecast and plans
  • Build a high performance (best in class) team of analysts, project managers, and testers with a culture of continuous learning and development
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of analytical work experience in financial services and financial forecasting strongly preferred, experience in Credit Cards Pricing, with deep knowledge of key Card regulations.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to frame business problems analytically.
  • Superior analytical and practical problem solving abilities.
  • Possesses strong communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization to both technical analysts and non-technical business leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
  • A strong collaborator with a demonstrated ability to influence cross functional partners to drive towards a common goal. 
  • Consistent follow through on actions and decisions.
  • Reliable, results-driven, execution-focused and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to build strong networks and relationships across Cards, Personal Banking and Citigroup
  • Analytical and conceptual thinker with ability to operate in “white space”.
  • Highly capable in change management and proven experience in driving change.
  • Comfortable operating in a highly matrixed, complex and commoditized arena and able to operate in ambiguity.
  • Self-aware with ability to adapt to various situations.
  • Strong people manager with recognized ability to bring in, develop, coach and export talent across the organization.
  • Bachelors degree (BA,BS) required, Masters degree preferred (MS,MBA)
