As a member of the Chubb Global Marketing, Communications and Investor Relations Team, and reporting to the SVP and Global Head, Strategic Content & Insights CoE, the Writer/Editor will be the primary point of contact for the copy editing of all thought leadership (e.g., reports, white papers, research-based articles) written by Chubb’s external bench of freelance writers. Degrees of copy editing will range from basic spelling, grammar and syntax editing to advanced line editing that ensures that all thought leadership reflects an active and consistent Chubb corporate voice that resonates deeply with the Company’s broad and diverse set of stakeholders. While copy editing will form the basis of the Writer/Editor responsibilities, original writing will also be an important part of the role, where the ideal candidate will be play a lead role in creating strategic content that will be published through the spectrum of Chubb marketing and communications channels, including chubb.com, social media, earned media and direct-to-clients and intermediaries.

The ideal candidate is an inquisitive storyteller with exceptional writing, editing and research skills who is an agile multi-tasker who can switch gears quickly between varieties of B2B and B2C subject matter, regional priorities, cultural differences and content formats with ease and with proficiency. H/she will have a nose for journalism, a newsroom DNA and high impact storytelling skills. They will be at ease understanding and transforming complex financial and business subject matter, and data and analytics, from around the world and turning it into informative, easy to digest and timely points of view and content for content briefs with a thematic edge (e.g. ESG, Sustainability, Climate, DEI, Social Responsibility, Cyber, Food Security, Supply Chain) for our diverse customer segments.

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience with developing content across a variety of formats for omnichannel publishing. H/She will additionally be skilled at creating interview guides that can be used for short- and long-form text content, video and podcast development. Th ideal candidate will also possess deep technical expertise and experience with SEO, best practice content publishing technologies and emerging technologies and practices taking shape in AI and the cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with external writers and is responsible for curating fresh, relevant, and informative content.
  • Curate thought leadership through the entire copy editing spectrum – from basic spelling, syntax and grammar checking though advanced line editing that ensures an active and consistent Chubb corporate voice.
  • Create original content and determines when and how to re-surface prior work during relevant news cycles.
  • Help the Strategic Content & Insights CoE team craft and refine ideas, cultivate sources, report, and write articles on a regular basis.
  • Be familiar and continuously upgrade skills related to mission critical publishing and data/analytics tools, and emerging capabilities, including Google Analytics, Adobe Experience Manager, strategic SEO, AIO, scalable cloud document management, collaboration tools (e.g., Frontify, SharePoint), smart automation and immersive content practices.
  • Work closely with the Global Program Manager for the Strategic Content & Insights CoE to ensure synchronization of creative, graphic and data assets, social media, and overall digital production.
  • Brainstorm new stories, series, concepts, themes, and formats as needed.
  • Minimum 10 years of writing and editing strategic content in a corporate environment, preferably in financial services, with a premium placed on insurance industry experience; experience as a journalist highly desirable. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a major in communications or journalism; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Track record of notable successes – portfolio of written and published pieces required.
  • Impeccable written, verbal and influencer communications skills.
  • Strong editorial background and proofreading skills.
  • Experience adhering to editorial and technical style guides (e.g., AP Stylebook, “The Elements of Style”).
  • Comfortable with frequent cross-functional and senior management contact.
  • Able to exert indirect authority to influence and deliver results.
  • Understanding of content channel strategies across lines of business.
  • Highly-disciplined, and structured, with a process management mindset, yet a creative and driven leader capable of developing and executing a strategic vision and plan for the content discipline.
  • Able to work across a highly-matrixed, global and culturally-diverse organization, able to drive positive change and translate a vision into actionable, quantitative results; set clear and measurable performance objectives.
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills including the necessary stature, poise and presence to quickly develop credibility and establish solid partnerships inside and outside the company.

The pay range for the role is $80,500 to $137,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
