Job Purpose: The Public Relations Manager will report directly to the SVP of Talent PR and Media Strategy and will be part of a team of talented colleagues leading marketing solutions, sales and media.

The PR Manager will develop and execute media strategies and pitching efforts for talent, manage and foster junior team talent, drive creative strategy, and own day-to-day client relations - coordinating with executive management to ensure cross-functional cohesion.

Duties: 

  • Proactively develop and execute comprehensive media strategies for talent
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media and influential professionals
  • Establish strong working relationships with marketing solutions and sales team members to build cross-functional cohesion
  • Developing PR strategies and dynamic pitches to meet client objectives and goals
  • Strategic planning and execution of outreach plan
  • Initiating new, creative pitches and brand-building opportunities
  • Pitching and securing feature stories, brand stories, etc. on the national and regional level across online, print, broadcast and podcast media
  • Communicating daily with editors/media and continuing to build strong relationships with key editors
  • Monthly client reporting
  • Prepare key talent for media events, speaking engagements, interviews and any other public-facing engagements
  • Communicating with clients regularly via email, phone, Slack and virtual meetings; building a strong relationship with clients
  • Leverage her/his network of media contacts and participate in relevant professional organizations and networking activities to help advance the business goals of Wasserman and talent
  • Manage the comprehensive editorial and content calendar
  • Manage and/or produce written collateral for media, including media kits, press releases, media alerts, statements, talking points, thought leadership articles, op-eds, and blogs.
  • Creative materials and asset management 
  • Mentoring and managing junior staff / Lead intern program

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications, sports administration or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in communications or public relations
  • A strategic mindset that utilizes creative problem-solving to achieve results.
  • Exceptional storytelling experience, including clear and concise writing and editing skills
  • Creativity to come up with big, out of the box ideas and PR tactics that will help drive awareness and reach new audiences in unexpected ways
  • Experience collaborating with business partners and stakeholders within a complex organization.
  • Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy, while growing in pressure-packed situations
  • Effective decision-making skills with the ability to identify solutions as needed.
  • Attention to detail with solid organizational and time-management skills.
  • Requires considerable flexibility in scheduling and the willingness to work nights and weekends.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite or Canva a plus.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of emerging social media channels and content partnerships in relation to media mix.
  • Ability to spot media trends and insights and share with teams to capitalize on exposure for the brand.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines
  • Requires self-management and project management abilities.

Benefits

Base salary range: $65-75K, plus bonus potential if applicable for role.

Actual base salary is dependent on several factors including but not limited to; market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), level of responsibility, budgetary considerations, tenure at the company (for current employees), etc. The salary range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
