Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) -Applied Equity Advisors (AEA) is seeking an Equity Analyst to assist the team in equity research. 

Applied Equity Advisors is a boutique investment group of MSIM located in Chicago. AEA manages over $7 B in equity assets for institutional and individual investors around the world in both separate accounts and mutual funds. We are seeking someone with the skills and entrepreneurial spirit to become part of our investment team.

This is a full-time position located in Chicago.

Responsibilities: 

Equity Analyst (60% of time)

  • Analyze relevant fundamental research for portfolio companies and for potential new positions
  • Research news/events for all portfolio companies and consolidate daily
  • Track and disseminate relevant portfolio analytics
  • Provide operational/analytical support for equity factor models

Business Management (20% of time) 

  • Assist in creation, updating, and maintenance of global marketing materials, including tear sheets, fact cards, presentations and market discussion slides.
  • Assist in responding to ad hoc information requests related to investment strategies.
  • Assist in producing regular and ad hoc client reporting deliverables.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of AEA strategies and investment process.

Trading Support (20% of time)

  • Assist with trade implementation of all active strategies by working and collaborating with various trading desks and platforms.
  • Perform client account reconciliations and performance monitoring

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required, with business, finance, quantitative, or economics concentration desired 
  • 3 to 5 years of related employment experience
  • Related financial market experience.
  • Analytical aptitude
  • Desire to work in a close collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, especially Excel/VBA.
