Job Purpose

As a member of the Technical Documentation team, you will work together with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, create and maintain technical documentation in a variety of formats and media. You will be instrumental in ensuring that developers, application specialists and other SMEs have the information they need to create or upgrade products in a timely manner according to approved specifications. You will also maintain documentation that assists product support staff, and work with the User Assistance Team to update external customer facing documentation as required.

Key Outcomes

Create and update documentation as part of the Technical Documentation Team:

Analyze relevant information sources, such as new product introduction documents (NPI), to determine the need for creating new material and updating existing material.

Interview developers, engineers and other technical experts.

Perform other research as required.

Carefully follow instructions and complete assigned work tasks in a timely manner.

Adhere to technical communication and company writing standards, including the User Assistance style guide, and existing documentation formats.

Perform technical editing, including reviewing user interface and documentation peer reviews.

Coordinate with other members of the group and other (international) groups.

Follow established revision and feedback procedures.

Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.

Qualifications / Experience

Previous experience documenting complex hardware and software.

Experience with, or willing to learn, authoring software (MadCap Flare, Author-it, or similar).

Experience with version control software (ideally, Git) and version control best practices.

Experience adhering to a writing style guide
