Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of post qualification experience in law firms or in-house experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the region in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with a high volume caseload.
  • Experience managing technology-related litigation and commercial matters.
  • Ability to lead a team, engage with the business, build credibility with executive management and effective relationships cross-functionally.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice to the company.
  • Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors. Anticipate issues and estimate risks, identifying solutions to eliminate or mitigate such risks.
  • Grow and manage a team. Manage complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas.
  • Respond promptly and reliably to internal and external requests for advice, specifically with regards to litigation, regulatory inquiries, agreements, commercial regulations, IP, data protection, advertising, and consumer protection as needed.
  • Assist with litigation and regulatory investigations as needed in cooperation with Google Legal colleagues and external counsel.
