As a Senior Data Science Engineer at Micron, you will be working with big data and conducting analytics on complex datasets to assist the fab to better understand manufacturing operations and provide solutions to pressing manufacturing issues. Projects will be focused on driving down manufacturing cost and improving product yield. quality, and labor productivity through automation. 

You will interact with experienced Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Equipment/Process Engineers, and other teams to identify opportunities and solutions for data science projects and improvement of existing tools. Furthermore, you will help deploy IoT solutions, algorithms, and/or automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from various data sources. There will be opportunities to perform exploratory and new solution development activities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong desire to grow a career as a Data Science Engineer in highly automated industrial manufacturing doing analysis and machine learning on terabytes and petabytes of diverse datasets.
  • Work individually and in small teams.
  • Attend evening meetings to align with sites across the globe.
  • Work with manufacturing areas to deploy sensors and edge-nodes to collect and analyze Fab data.
  • Build UI for end-users to interact with data (Angular web UI framework).
  • Collaborate with data scientist/engineers to create scalable ML solutions for business problems at a local and global level.
  • Gather and transform data to make it useable for analytics, including Deep-learning/Machine-learning. 
  • Develop, test, optimize and deploy deep-learning/machine-learning models on-prem and cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform).
  • Work with different data types and labeled/unlabeled data.
  • Apply computer vision tools to images to help process images, extract key features, and build models.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Master’s Degree (Computer Science/Data Science/etc.) + 3 years working experience as Data Scientist/Data Engineer or relevant PhD.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills (Python preferred).
  • Experience building UI using Angular or React framework.
  • Project/time management skills and desire to learn.
  • Experience building and executing machine learning models.
  • Exposure to semiconductor industry.
