Great opportunity to join the Transportation team in Tallahassee FL area as an Asphalt Plant Inspector.

Responsibilities include:

· Onsite inspection of asphalt plant with roadway construction materials.
· Conduct inspections, observations and run materials tests.
· Writing of a daily report of construction and review the reports from the inspection staff.
· Checking construction work while in process and/or upon completion.
· Measuring and reporting quantities
· Producing records, and reports observations including video and digital pictures.


· High school graduate or equivalent is required; college is a plus.
· Minimum of 1 + year’s experience in the surveillance and inspection of hot asphalt plant operations experience is required
· Must be able to handle basic geometric mathematical calculations involving linear distances, areas, and volumes.
· Must be able to read plans and specifications and have a good grasp of complex construction means and methods.
· Must have good written and communication skills.
· Must have reasonable computer skills and be literate in MS Word and Excel.
· Must have the ability to complete advanced level inspector qualification courses needed including CTQP Asphalt Plant Level I and CTQP Asphalt Plant Level II (If certifications not current, must be willing to be re-certified).
· Candidates that are selected will have to pass a mandatory drug screen and the FL Motor Vehicle record will be examined.
· Must have a good driving record.

Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
