DESCRIPTION

Amazon's Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT) is seeking a Principal Product Manager - Technical to shape the future of artificial intelligence through the customer experience lens.

Have you ever found yourself wishing there was a better way to evaluate AI models against each other than reading the benchmark papers, often published by the same organizations behind their development? If so, keep reading. We're seeking a scientifically-inclined Principal Product Manager to join our emerging team working with AWS AI & Data leadership to deliver innovative and performant products to customers of AI worldwide. This role is called to work closely with Amazon's AGI science team, dive deep into current/future customer needs and define the roadmap of next-generation automated AI model evaluation solutions. You will develop the most customer-centric methods to infer which models are best suited for which tasks, and ultimately push the AWS teams behind AI-driven products like Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q to deliver the best customer experience.

The role requires above all to stay on top of AI developments at a deep technical level, while cultivating an understanding of the areas where customers stand to benefit the most. The candidate we will welcome on the team demonstrates all skills relevant to serving in a builder team carrying a product from vision to production. They also excel at influencing stakeholders without formal authority, across a wide range of technical profiles and seniority levels. They write with crystal-clear precision, and their verbal communication is concise and perceptive. As a Principal Product Manager, they tirelessly advocate on behalf of customers and escalate immediately when they believe course correction is needed. Finally, they hold everyone to the highest standards, yet are known to hold themselves to even higher standards.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and build proof of concept experiments that best describe the quality of the customer experiences powered by AI/ML
  • Create product/feature proposals to scale and automate the process of evaluating those customer experiences
  • Write business and technical requirements to be met by AI evaluation product/features prioritized for development by CXBT
  • Continuously absorb and share knowledge about the latest product and scientific developments relevant to the ML/AI
  • Own study lifecycle from scoping, to execution, to delivery of findings and recommendations to AWS leadership
  • Contribute to team study roadmap by synthesizing AWS product plans, customer needs, and industry trends

We are a team of builders that develop products, services, ideas, and various ways of leveraging data to influence product and service offerings – for almost every business at Amazon – for every customer (e.g., consumers, developers, sellers/brands, employees, investors, streamers, gamers).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience technical product management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related technical field
  • MBA or Master's Degree in business
  • Excellence in technical communication across all seniority levels
  • Familiarity with the literature surrounding AI/LLM evaluation (e.g., knowledge, capability, alignment, safety)
  • Track record going from vision definition to shipping in production with AI/ML components, including GenAI/LLMs
  • Experience building on top of AWS services
  • Proficiency in manipulating large datasets with languages/tools such as Python, Spark, SQL

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
