Jacobs/SLG is seeking an HR Benefits Specialist for the Employee Services Department to provide administrative support within Human Resources with a focus on employee benefit administration.

 

Though not all inclusive, responsibilities will include the following:

  • Responsible for the administration of all employee benefit programs such as medical, dental and vision plans, life insurance plans, disability plans, flexible spending account plans and retirement plans.

  • Process all HRIS benefit entries (new hire elections, terminations, qualifying life event changes and open enrollment) to ensure accurate record keeping and proper payroll deductions.

  • Assist employees with questions regarding benefits summary plan information.

  • Explain and interpret company insurance programs to employees and dependents.

  • Maintain employee benefit files.

  • Monitor benefit eligibility and arrears balances for employees on various leave programs (Family Medical Leave, Disability Leave of Absence, Military Leave, etc...).

  • Ensures compliance with ERISA, COBRA and HIPAA regulations.

  • Administer Health By Design Wellness Program.

  • Provide HR Portal support in the updating and maintenance of internal HR Information pages.

Qualifications

Education and experience:  Requires two (2) years of college with courses in business administration and six (6) years of progressive work experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. One (1) to two (2) years specific Human Resources and/or Benefits experience preferred. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills including timeliness, accuracy, and thoroughness. 

  • High proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

  • Strong attention to detail. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to multi-task. 

  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion with confidential information. 

  • Strong orientation to customer service and team environment; ability to interface with internal and external customers. 

  • Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance, in needed. 

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

Light - work usually requires standing to a significant degree.  Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to move objects.  Exposed to computer monitors, copy machine, and constant wrist movement. Operates typical office equipment such as fax machine, copiers, computer keyboard, telephones, etc.

 

Work Environment:

Must embrace Beyond Zero/Safety principles of Jacobs to include; adhering to safe work practices and standards while performing daily tasks, taking responsibility for own and coworkers’ safekeeping and encouraging others to work safely.

 

Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management. 

 

Must perform work activities requiring interaction, negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others.

 

Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.

 

Attendance:

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

 

Must be able to work within the shift hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

 

Other Essential Functions:

Must pass drug testing.

 

Travel requirements – Does not require travel.

 

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.
