This job welcomes and registers customers to the department. Provides direction, instructions, assistance, and emotional support to customers in the area and on the telephone. Screens and refers requests from internal and external customers to the appropriate personnel.

Education

Required - 

High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required - 

1 year health care or customer service experience including experience exercising good judgment in handling difficult situations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self directed
  • Demonstrates Good Judgement

Job Duties

  • Welcomes and registers customers; and accommodates various needs of the customer.
  • Communicates pertinent information to customers and co-workers in a professional manner which facilitates a cooperative environment to improve care
  • Maintains required knowledge of systems, equipment, and necessary forms to be placed in the customer’s chart.
  • Maintains the professional appearance of public and personal work areas.
  • Adapts to change in a positive, constructive manner.
  • Other related duties as required.
