Job Description Summary

As a Senior Category Manager you will hold a pivotal role in driving savings and efficiencies through management & consolidation of the supplier base. You will collaborate with Regional Category Leaders, Global Sourcing/Category Leaders, Business Leaders and their teams, managing (among others) on Global Marketing Services.

The chosen candidate will use prior experience/expertise to execute functional strategy; leverages in-depth understanding of business strategy to accomplish work and has technical & analytical abilities to solve problems.

The role reports directly to the Global Category Leader and will need to cover US Eastern/Central time zone. This role may work from home and/or from the local GE Healthcare office to be closer to their stakeholders.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Leads Global Marketing Consolidation Project over the next several years to deliver brand governance & continuity across the supply base, savings and supplier consolidation.
  • Partners with key business stakeholders to support the needs of the business.
  • Develops solutions and delivers on priorities for the designated scope. Maintains metrics for sourcing scope and identifies new areas of opportunity to deliver or exceed targets.
  • Develops and implements Indirect Sourcing strategy, processes or GEHC policies for the Category Manager’s agreed scope and in line with GEHC global sourcing initiatives.
  • Leads full Request for Proposal & Bidding process including spend analysis, RFx, quotes analysis, pricing, and contract & statement of work negotiations and execution.
  • Enforces and manages compliance with Preferred Suppliers (PSL) and strategically manage tail-spend to migrate to preferred suppliers wherever possible.
  • Owns achieving Indirect savings targets, leading, and running project execution across their supply base.
  • Responsible for risk management in supplier base ensuring all compliance and quality standards are met.
  • Liaises with stakeholders and Sourcing colleagues across the organization to understand / share best practices and leverage expertise.
  • Identifies and owns global and cross Strategic Business Unit (SBU) supply base. Leverage buying power to maximize opportunities.
  • Drives business metrics affected by indirect Sourcing, identifies new areas of cost out and implements operating efficiency.
  • Provides guidance, feedback and support to other Sourcing Leaders including Regional Sourcing/Category Leaders covering the same spend.
  • Provides appropriate contract coverage for goods and services globally. Be proficient in executing the GEHC legal templates and negotiating terms and conditions, service levels and pricing with suppliers.
  • Identifies and reports any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
  • Develops and maintains fully qualified and compliant supply base.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in a related field such as (but not limited to) Business, Finance or Health Services.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional services sourcing experience in a large corporate sourcing environment including global & role specific sub-commodity experience.
  • Negotiated large complex services contracts & engagements.
  • Delivered cross Functional/Business savings and deployed global/region wide initiatives and projects.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of time.

  • Able to combine a strong sense of humility and partnership with Stakeholders and Suppliers, with the purpose of Sourcing’s mission, making GE HealthCare leaner and more cost efficient.
  • Tenacious, strong negotiator, good communicator at all levels and across different cultures.
  • Experience & market knowledge and understanding of the managed sub-commodities (Global Marketing Services).
  • Strong influencing skills.

  • Great stakeholder management - able to understand internal customers’ needs and CTQ's and deliver them from the supplier base.
  • Can work in a matrix and under pressure against deadlines CTQ's and deliver them from the supplier base.
  • Able to balance priorities and pivot when necessary.
  • Minimum 5 years project management experience using lean/six sigma methodology and with process rigor and analytical capacity to plan and execute complex projects, using available data to identify and navigate the critical path to a best-case solution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience facilitating remote teams.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification.
