Duties and Responsibilities

The internship is located in the Office of the Director, Division for Operations, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Vienna (Austria). The intern will work under the direct supervision of Senior Programme Officer within the Office of the Director. •Support the Office of the Director in developing and implementing effective strategies and frameworks for communication and social media use. •Support the Director and the Deputy Director in maintaining an effective social media presence. •Support the Senior Programme Officer in support of the collection, review and documentation of human interest stories and other relevant information for the purpose of effective communications. •Develop presentations and other briefing material as may be requested by the Division management. •Support the Senior Programme Officer in organizing meetings, collecting relevant information and preparing Minutes as relate to prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, Disability Inclusion, Gender and on other cross-cutting issues. •Draft correspondence. •Perform research on specific topics and produce working papers, reports, summaries, analyses, briefings, presentations and studies. •Attend and take notes at meetings, produce minutes and briefings on outcomes. •Perform other tasks as necessary.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type on internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master's or PH.D. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
