The Senior Supervisor, Warehouse is responsible for driving discipline of daily activities while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. These functions include strategic planning of warehouse activities, optimizing workflow, shipping of products, staging material for production work orders, receipt of materials, cycle counting, and ensuring accurate transactions in the ERP system, as well as optimizing workflow. 

This is an onsite position that may require driving between local sites.

The Opportunity 

  • Direct the warehouse departments in receiving, storing and/or shipping of materials or finished goods. Owns the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control. 
  • Oversee and optimize the processes that ensure materials are received from proper vendors, delivered to inventory and finished goods, packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner. While monitoring the processes for receipt of all materials to ensure purchase orders are open and the quality of materials received meets company standards.
  • Ensures materials are available and staged to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped according to the marketing schedule. Holding employees accountable for their functions by establishing operational methods and procedures.
  • Build reporting tools and maintain documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities. Ensuring the warehousing KPI’s are defined and measured to support effective operations. Prepare and publish warehousing reports to demonstrate performance. Develop action plans for corrections of poor KPIs.
  • Lead and mentor warehouse staff, ensuring they follow best practices. Provide training on safety protocols, inventory control, and efficient handling of medical device components in an FDA regulated environment. 
  • Responsible for identifying potential risks (e.g. stock shortages, transportation delays, etc) and developing contingency plans while mitigating supply chain disruptions. 
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Generally Acceptable Accounting Practices (GAAP) for an FDA regulated environment. Create and implement quality checks for incoming and outgoing goods.

Who You Are 

  • You hold an Associate Degree with 8+ years of experience in a medical device or biotechnology related manufacturing warehouse or a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management with 6+ years of experience in a medical device or biotechnology related manufacturing warehouse . 
  • You have expert working knowledge of computerized inventory control systems, inventory control methods and procedures, and freight manifest systems 
  • You have proficient skills on personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software
  • You have hands-on experience shipping products via common freight carriers; experience supplying materials to production work orders and practical knowledge of receiving materials against purchase orders
  • You are trained in the safe usage of basic warehouse equipment such as forklifts and stock pickers

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of, or previous experience in, a GMP environment is highly desirable
  • Freight manifest systems (MRP, WMS or SAP) experience is highly desirable
  • Must be an inspiring, organized, self-directed, and conscientious leader; Must be able to think and work both tactically and strategically to provide financial and operational needs to GenMark’s business
  • Demonstrated ability in analytical problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills are required; Strong time management and organizational skills in a dynamic, constantly changing environment; Complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
  • Ability to read, write and analyze complex documents; ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, customer inquiries or complaints as well as communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, peers and individuals

Work Environment

The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments. The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, blood borne pathogens and automated equipment.

While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Relocation benefits are not available for this position. 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Carlsbad, CA is $71,000 - $131,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
