Job Description

Specific Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to Director Finance this position will be responsible for consolidating Commercial forecasts, budgets, actual results, variance analyses and business review meeting preparation.  The position will also support process improvement initiatives and projects such as ERP implementation as well as therapeutic area and geographic expansion of the business.  As Gilead Sciences KK is in establishment stage, the candidate is strongly required to equip out-of-the-box-thinking mindset.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive and manage consolidation process for Gilead Japan’s  forecasts and budgets, and complete review packages
  • Provide financial supports for Commercial teams as well as R&D, G&A and Operations functions
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports - analyzing financial results, distilling/synthesizing key trends, assessing current and future business risk, and communicating key messages to senior management
  • Provide support for business review meetings process, including preparation of support schedules and ad hoc analysis as needed by stake holders and business partners
  • Partner with Director Finance to drive process improvement initiatives related to 3-year planning process, forecasting, analysis, reporting, earnings call process, business review meeting process, benchmarking and FX analysis
  • Provide support on projects such as sales force effectiveness as well as therapeutic area and geographic expansion of the business
  • Accelerate business partnering with stake holders such as Marketing Team, Sales Team and all other related functions
  • Lead and influence cross functional teams as appropriate

    Knowledge, Experience & Skills:


  • 4-6 years of relevant finance experience
  • BA/BS is a must, MBA or equivalent master degree is a plus
  • Experience in healthcare industry is a plus (preferably in pharmaceutical industry)
  • Experience in multi-national organization is a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting policies and procedures required (USGAAP/JPGAAP conversion experience is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of ERPs (Oracle, SAP etc) and reporting tools (Hyperion, TM1 etc) (system implementation experience is a plus)
  • Proficient in complex Excel spreadsheet and database structures required
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills are a must
  • Able to work in a fast paced and changing environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner
  • Strong problem solving skills, structured and logical thinking capability
  • Ability to prioritize multi tasks, and work under pressure
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English required
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with energy to move uncertain things forward
  • Forward looking personality with “can do” attitude required


  • Strong problem solving skills, structured and logical thinking capability
  • MBA or equivalent master degree in Finance, Corporate Finance is a plus
