Work equivalent: (one position) 6 credits = 15 hours spent in the college writing center & reading lab per week. (two positions) 3 credits = 7.5 hours spent in the college writing center & reading lab per week. Length of Assignment: 1st year (Spring 2024) Spring Semester Years following: (2024-25 and forward) Fall & Spring Assignment

General Summary: CRE Faculty will work with team members to assist with facilitating growth and development in student reading; teaching necessary skills to meet students where they are, providing expertise in addressing a range of services for various student reading levels & abilities, assisting facilitators in providing meaningful direction for all aspects of critical reading.

Posting is available to full-time CRE faculty first, by seniority. However, if full-time CRE faculty do not apply for a college writing center & reading lab on a campus or campuses, then CRE adjunct faculty are also eligible for these positions.

Job Duties: 

In the Writing Center & Reading Lab, Faculty Leads will:

1.Support Writing Center & Reading Lab Goals.

2. Orient faculty and students to Writing Center & Reading Laboratory materials and programs.

3. Maintain an organized and up-to-date Writing Center & Reading Laboratory.

4. Work with students individually and/or in groups to enhance writing and reading support.

5. Create activities, deliver workshops, and engage with faculty in the development of other academic programming.

6. Communicate regularly with the Writing Director and faculty for ongoing improvement of student offerings.

Clearance: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
