JR52967 Staff Engineer, Signal Integrity Modeling

The Signal Integrity Research and Development (SI R&D) team supports all of Micron’s current and future product developments. Major product technologies developed at Micron include DRAM, LPDRAM, Graphics DRAM, HBM, NAND, Managed NAND, and SSDs within the consumer, server, mobile, networking, graphics, automotive, and embedded businesses. A major SI R&D team focus is I/O modeling with IBIS, IBIS-AMI, and transistor-level models. The team owns I/O model development for DRAM, NAND, and ASIC based products. The team also supports future specification development within several industry standards groups including JEDEC, ONFI, and IBIS. The group working environment is diverse, challenging, and team oriented.

Responsibilities:

As an Engineer in the Signal Integrity team at Micron, you would be responsible for:

  • Modeling of I/O driver and receiver circuits using industry standard formats including IBIS, IBIS-AMI, and encrypted HSPICE
  • Circuit simulation analysis of I/O circuits
  • Drive and support I/O characterization measurements
  • Developing methodologies for equalization circuit modeling with IBIS-AMI
  • Testing of models in EDA simulation tools such as: HSPICE, ADS, HyperLynx, Cadence Topology Explorer, and Signal Integrity Toolbox
  • Perform model quality checks and correlation through time and frequency domain simulations
  • Collaborate with business units, field application engineers, product engineers, silicon designers, hardware engineers, and customers
  • Customer support and development of model documentation and user guides

Qualifications: Successful candidates for this position will have: 

  • Bachelors or Masters in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 6-12 years of proven experience
  • Required understanding of IBIS and IBIS-AMI model syntax, usage, and limitations.
  • Required courses and/or experience covering electromagnetic and transmission line theory, CMOS circuit design, analog circuit design, VLSI design principles, or similar fields of study or experience.
  • Required to have experience with simulation, modeling, and IC layout tools such as HSPICE, Cadence Virtuoso, ADS, MATLAB, etc.
  • Required understanding of I/O circuit design, equalization techniques, signal integrity principles, and printed circuit board (PCB) layout techniques.
  • Knowledge or understanding of DRAM, NAND, and other relevant signaling standards such as:
  • DDR4/5, LPDDR4/5, GDDR6, ONFI, UFS, PCIe, etc.
  • Desired experience with IBIS-AMI modeling software such as:
  • MATLAB SerDes Toolbox, Keysight SystemVue, Cadence AMI Builder, etc.
  • Desired experience with programming and scripting languages.
  • Self-motivated - candidate should enjoy leading and taking ownership of assigned projects, exhibit good written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
