Project analysts will support Project Management by allowing you the opportunity to be involved from start to finish on Information Technology advancements. You will work closely with project managers and the Enterprise Project Management Office in the planning, organization and execution of projects. Additionally, you may support Enterprise Project Management Office activities including standards, tools, process cadence, reporting and governance. You will be involved in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid methodology projects with Global Implementations and will work cross-functionally within IT giving you the opportunity to experience how IT operates. 

Sometimes, project analysts perform the responsibilities done by a project manager. Other times, they work hand in hand with project managers. They seldom participate directly in the activities that produce results. Instead, they strive to maintain the progress, mutual interaction tasks of various parties that reduce the risk of overall failure, maximize benefits, and minimize costs. 

Project analysts support project managers with project coordination and oversight. They contribute to project planning, preparing, and maintaining documentation. The project analyst further review contracts and financials, monitor project activities, and evaluate the overall tasks. Project Analysts support the full lifecycle execution of IT projects, ensuring project delivery within scope, timeline, and budget. They assist the project manager who is responsible for mitigating risks and issues and communicating progress to all major stakeholders. 

Core Responsibilities and Expectations: 

  • Works closely with the Portfolio Office and PMO leadership team to align different initiatives within JCI’s IT strategy roadmap

  • Assists in building and maintaining formal governance, compliance, and management oversight to help drive consistency across the Portfolio and PMO 
  • Develops specific reporting on programs across dimensions of cost, schedule, scope, and RAID (risks, actions, issues, and decisions) 
  • Assists in project scoping efforts, and guide Project Managers in project planning, identification of project interdependencies, and project execution within budget and schedule 
  • Provides operational support such as tracking timelines, milestones and risks/issues. 
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains project documentation and reports 
  • Supports maintenance of project financials 

Tracks, forecasts, and provides information on project progress, including metrics and challenges

Project analyst’s skills include:

These skills enable project managers to coordinate tasks, oversee their team and define the road map to complete a project. Project managers with strong organizational skills ensure that the projects run smoothly and align with common goals. 

MILESTONES: 

3 Months: 

  • Demonstrate an intermediate level of proficiency in the PMO PPM Tool and PowerBI 
  • Complete all assigned LMS Training 
  • Seek opportunities for process improvements 
  • Demonstrate the ability to update a project and weekly/monthly activities in our PPM Tool 
  • Demonstrate the ability to create a project financial workbook and present project financials 
  • Recommend 1-2 process improvements 

6 Months: 

  • Provide interim report on process improvement implementation plan and status 
  • Demonstrate an advanced level of proficiency in the PMO PPM Tool and PowerBI 

End of Rotation: 

  • Complete all assigned goals 
  • Implement/Hand over process improvement(s) 
  • Complete a handover document of role 
  • Provide an overview brief to Key Stakeholders on Rotation Experience
