Sunwater Capital is seeking an HR Manager. This role will function as the backbone of the office, work closely with the executive team on a range of strategic and tactical HR and administrative functions for Sunwater Capital, its portfolio of operating and real estate businesses, and the Sunwater Institute. The desired candidate must be comfortable with private equity, operating businesses, real estate, and public policy think tanks. The ideal candidate has a passion for HR and has a mix of strategic and tactical skills to build high performing organizations.

Sunwater Capital is a North Bethesda-based investment and asset management firm in the real estate and healthcare sectors and the Sunwater Institute is a public policy think tank.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management

  • Manage and build a team of HR and administration professionals 
  • Manage vendors, recruiting firms, and external consultants 

HR

  • Work with executives to set strategic HR and administrative goals for Sunwater and its related entities 
  • Manage full cycle recruiting process including posting job descriptions, recruiting candidates/working with recruiters, and onboarding/offboarding across a wide range of executive, mid-level, and entry level positions 
  • Oversee team goal setting, performance evaluation processes, and compensation adjustments 
  • Act as the central point of contact for HR-related queries, policies, and strategies 
  • Maintain and revise policies, personnel records,HR documents, and benefits 
  • Partner with legal team on compliance matters 

Administration

  • Oversee all technical business systems via internal staff and consultants
  • Maintain and oversee physical office space and amenities
  • Work with Finance on the travel and expense policies for staff and consultants
  • Manage and maintain a complex set of benefits and insurance policies
  • Collaborate with finance team on payroll matters and updates

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to work onsite at the company’s North Bethesda office location 5 days per week 
  • Experience in a private equity firm, think tank/ nonprofit, or software development startupis highly desired 
  • 5+ years proven work experience in HR, administration, or relevant role 
  • Experience with HR software and Applicant Tracking Software, such as Gusto and Lever 
  • Must be tech savvy and able to use Mac OS and MS 365 
  • Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects
