Corporate Communications Associate Manager, Pet

OVERVIEW: 

We are looking for a Corporate Communications Associate Manager for the Pet business segment which is one of the biggest growth opportunities for General Mills. The Pet segment is home to Blue Buffalo, the leading Natural Pet Food brand in the United States. This position reports to the Corporate Communications Director, Pet, International and North America Foodservice. 

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of refreshingly authentic communications strategies for the Pet segment. You will partner closely with the Corporate Communications Director to lead executive communications for the President, Pet and communications supporting key segment initiatives including quarterly earnings, business transformation efforts and segment/enterprise events. 

This role is an opportunity to build skills in strategic consulting and influence, financial communications, as well as gain further experience partnering with a senior leader – all while having high impact within our Pet business and more broadly within the General Mills organization. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Craft and execute executive positioning strategy for President, Pet across internal and external channels, grounded in propelling business objectives, employee engagement, and authentic leadership in partnership with Corporate Communications Director.
  • Write and direct the production of President, Pet content (emails, PowerPoint presentations, video scripts, external content, speeches, etc.) in support of segment and enterprise business priorities.
  • Partner with the Corporate Communications Director to develop and execute communications strategies to support the Pet business story at the enterprise level and large-scale organizational change management initiatives within the Pet segment. 
  • Collaborate with key Pet leadership team members, including HR and Finance, to craft clear messaging for employees on complex topics, including business results, transformation, and organizational announcements.
  • Serve as Editor-in-Chief of the Pet segment newsletter, Champions updates and like-communications, ensuring high-quality, engaging content supporting business priorities and effective distribution to employees.
  • Serve as communications lead on Pet’s yearly manager summit by ensuring a cohesive narrative to support meeting objectives and by developing engaging content spanning the President, Pet messaging, video production, etc. 
  • Serve as a liaison across the Corporate Communications team and Pet Brand team to amplify brand communications across internal and external channels, operationalize integration processes.
  • Review and analyze metrics and outcomes to continuously learn and drive improvements.
  • Support key communication initiatives for Group President (across Pet, NAF, and/or International) on project-basis, in partnership with Corporate Communications Director. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, PR, Journalism, or related field.
  • 5 years minimum of professional Communications experience in a corporate or agency setting. 
  • Proactive, self-starter with exceptional written and verbal skills, including a demonstrated ability to translate sophisticated information into concepts that are compelling and more easily understood. 
  • Strong executive presence with proven abilities to partner, coach, and influence senior leaders. 
  • Ability to consistently deliver within tight deadlines while prioritizing, multi-tasking, and advancing several projects simultaneously. 
  • Video project management and meeting/event planning experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong business and financial communications acumen. 
  • Experience with both internal and external communications. 
  • Experience managing agency partners. 
  • Experience counseling project teams or clients to achieve stronger results. 
  • Collaborative working style with a willingness to try new things. 
  • Experience successfully working within a highly matrixed, entrepreneurial organization. 

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: 

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $90100.00 - $135300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
