Applied Signal Technology is looking for an Industrial Security Specialist for a growing and fast paced office in Annapolis Junction, MD. 

This position will work with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. Individuals must be self-driven and results oriented individual capable of effectively working multiple tasks concurrently across a diverse program landscape. Must be able to work autonomously with limited oversight.

This position will be appointed the Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) and Alternate Facility Security Officer (A/FSO) providing multi-disciplined security support.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides classified meeting support,
  • Coordinates program access requests with the Clearance Processing office,
  • Provides critical security support to site program managers,
  • Communicates with internal and external customers at an operational level,
  • Develops and administers programmatic security education programs,
  • Leads daily operations for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Open Storage Areas,
  • Investigates security violations and prepares reports,
  • Prepares and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), OPSEC plans, work instructions, and test plans,
  • Maintains facilities in accordance with Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), 32 CFR National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM),
  • May manage small security projects or processes.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional industrial security experience or relevant experience
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and prioritize activities to accomplishing competing objectives
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written, verbal and live presentation skills
  • Self starter with the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Willing to work extended hours on occasion and respond to after hour alarms
  • Some travel may be required
  • Experience with government policies and procedures for handling and safeguarding National Security Information
  • Must have an Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. 
  • Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must HAVE ability to obtain SCI with Polygraph
  • Working knowledge of the 32 CFR NISPOM, ICDs, DoD M 5205.07 Vol 1-3, and other related DoD Manuals
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in determining actions and managing outcome
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SCFP) or Industrial Security Professional (ISP) Certification
  • Security - related coursework from CDSE, NSTi, or customer sponsor

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
