The Taiwan investment team managed funds and accounts across Equity (EMAP), Fixed Income (FI) and Multi-Assets Solutions (MAS). With increasing local regulations imposed on funds investing locally and overseas, as well as segregated accounts, managed locally, Asset Management Taiwan requires strong oversight and management functions of these funds and accounts. 

As an Investment Business Manager - Vice President, you’ll be responsible for leading and representing local PM teams to optimize the performance of this function both strategically and operationally. You will have joint accountability with the business executive that promotes early investment business opportunities and operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls and sustainable solutions to mitigate investment and operational risk. You will also engage with colleagues across the firm involving controls, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, technology, and external regulators. 

Job responsibilities

  • Oversight, monitoring and approval of all local investment team research documents and trading orders
  • Represent the Taiwan Investment Management team in external communication with the regulators, local, and regional communication with the respective Investment Directors, Investment Business Management, Product Development, Product Administration, Internal Audit, Control and Risk Management, Technology, as well as local and regional product related committees and forums
  • Support local investment teams/desks in driving product management/new product development/strategy, streamline front desk procedures/systems/ risk/monitoring and control
  • Handle local investment risk and controls assessment, error/breach management, legal obligations and coordinate with Risk, Audit and Compliance to maintain a robust investment risk and control environment
  • Prepare senior management presentations and reports and present the related investment business, monitoring, escalations and control results; 
  • Engage with colleagues across the local and regional firm on Investment ESG matters
  • Support ad-hoc requests and special project

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Investment Management, Compliance, Risk Management or Project Management 
  • Exceptional critical thinking, project management, analytical and communication skills (i.e. communicate effectively at all levels of the organization)
  • Ability to directly address conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Very risk aware with a control oriented mind-set. Assertive with strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail. Highly focused and can maintain a consistently high level of concentration 
  • Experience in working in a global organization
  • Able to work accurately under pressure, within tight deadlines and able to effectively and efficiently prioritise tasks
  • Pro-active approach to work to prevent problems occurring. Has a questioning nature, challenges anomalous figures or procedures. Willing to accept high responsibility and driven to achieve excellence
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English and Chinese required

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • An understanding of Asset Management businesses, products and investment management experience is preferable
