Position Overview:

Are you someone who loves to make an impact and enjoys being challenged? Our Capital Department within the Finance Division is currently seeking a confident, self-motivated, and analytical Finance Professional to partner with our internal stakeholders in support of a positive and proactive relationship with our regulators at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) on matters pertaining to Capital. This individual will work extensively with internal stakeholders across Finance, Internal Audit, Business Segments, Legal, Risk, Regulatory Affairs and other areas to support the Capital Team in the planning, forecasting, reporting and optimization of capital. The role will report into the Capital Planning and Analytics Sr Manager and will provide significant exposure to senior management in multiple areas.

Our Impact:

The Capital, Stress Testing and Resolution Planning Team is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and optimization of capital. Our work ties closely with other areas within the Finance function including Financial Planning and Analysis and Stress Testing. The team focuses on the oversight of all capital management, capital planning and elements related to risk appetite and capital contingency, as well as strategic and policy initiatives. In this regard, the Finance Professional role will support a wide range of analytical activities focused on both business-as-usual and stress environments within the stress testing framework. Our team:

  • Oversees the capital forecasting process.
  • Prepares Freddie Mac’s Annual Capital Plan submission to FHFA.
  • Collaborates with the divisional finance and business areas as well as division risk officers (DROs) in the implementation of the recently enacted Enterprise Required Capital Framework (ERCF) and coordinates associated regulatory submissions.
  • Drives the optimization of capital in partnership with other areas within Finance and the business areas to improve the systems and processes currently used to perform these activities.
  • Develops the strategies and tools to accurately measure and optimize capital capacity and ratios and related measures.

The team reports to the VP of Capital who reports to the Chief Financial Officer. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a results-driven team that will implement Freddie Mac’s Capital Planning and Management Strategy.

Your Impact:

This role requires you to be curious, analytical and thrive in a fast-paced environment, building strong relationships and networks that facilitate the delivery of Capital, Stress Testing and Resolution Planning priorities. The candidate will work on initiatives that will provide a unique opportunity to gain a broad understanding of both Freddie Mac’s business as well as the newly updated capital requirements under FHFA’s Enterprise Regulatory Capital Framework (ERCF). You will:

  • Partner with key stakeholders within Finance and across the Enterprise to provide timely updates to our regulators and executive leadership.
  • Keep abreast with current affairs in the Financial and Housing market and conduct research related to bank capital rules, communicate key developments in a widely distributed weekly Capital News briefing.
  • Play a key role in coordinating updates to the Capital Section of the FHFA and internal Corporate scorecards.
  • Aggregate and summarize key changes impacting regulatory capital on a quarterly basis for submission to our Conservatorship Affairs team.
  • Assist with driving agendas and building presentations for meetings with senior leadership and regulators.
  • Provide project management support for the implementation of capital rule changes, responses to regulator requests and resolution of open items across Capital.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with continuous change and competing priorities.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships across the Enterprise.
  • Project management or change management execution experience preferred.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $88,000 - $132,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
