Compensation: $145,000 - $155,000/year

III. RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operations

  • Manages multiple site operations.
  • Plans, directs, delegates and implements established department procedures and ABM Healthcare Support programs.
  • Ensures that all ABM Healthcare Support Systems and programs are in place at all sits in accordance with Regional Director of Operations.
  • Responds to emergencies at both night time and on weekends as required.

Leadership 

  • Plans, organizes, and directs short and long term departmental activities in accordance with regulatory and accrediting organizations.
  • Functions as a resource to staff and hospital team members.

Communication 

  • Communicates clearly and effectively with direct reports, the hospital team, the immediate supervisor, and interdepartmentally.
  • Demonstrates effective oral communication skills in the following: active listening, assertiveness, providing feedback/coaching, team building, and conflict management.
  • Demonstrates effective written communication skills in written reports.
  • Attends administrative meetings and participates in assignments as requested.

Fiscal Accountability

  • Ensures that all sites are meeting its fiscal responsibilities and operating within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Facilitates, creates, distributes and maintains all necessary reports and documentation for the multiple sites. Assures that Monthly and Hours Reports are consistently accurate and on time.
  • Plans and forecasts the department budget by calculating FTE’s, planning annual budgets, interpreting payroll, accounts payable and FTE reports and projecting workload and productivity. Performs a variance analysis by identifying and interpreting budget variances.
  • Plans capital budget.
  • Plans and implements staff scheduling, position controls, and attendance control procedures.
  • Assures all supplies/equipment are purchased through approved vendors. Oversees all department related contracts with outside vendors.

Data Utilization

  • Assumes responsibility for accessing and utilizing appropriate data in order to operations.
  • Views everything with a process improvement mindset.
  • Reports all pertinent data to Regional Director of Operations and ABM Healthcare Support Services Corporate Office in a timely manner.

Service Excellence

  • Oversees the implementation and administration of HSS Patient Experience Program.
  • Promotes a customer service mindset at all times to both internal and external customers.
  • Responds to all requests from customers with a can do attitude. Follows up on requests with a sense of urgency.
  • Champions all sites TQM/Customer Services Initiatives.
  • Demonstrates commitment to achieving patient satisfaction and employee engagement targets for the organization and department(s).
  • Practices and promotes the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services, including customer retention and service recovery. 

Human Resources

  • Develops/coaches management team to ensure fullest potential is reached.
  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, development, performance evaluation and management of employees within assigned departments.
  • Ensures work assignments and schedules meet department and facility needs to maintain quality standards.
  • Ensures department Training Programs at all sites are being conducted within appropriate timeframes.
  • Knows all procedures, union agreements, or employee personnel manuals and meets all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge of grievance and disciplinary procedures. Communicates effectively and maintains competent coaching and counseling skills during performance review and employee discipline process.

Safety

  • Demonstrates knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and safety policies/procedures.
  • Ensures department compliance with all regulations and policies.
  • May participate in hospital and/or ABM safety committees.

IV. RESPONSIBILITIES – NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:3

  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
  • Participates in scheduled department meetings.
  • Completes annual age-specific competencies.
  • Remains compliant with mandatory Hospital Education.
  • Fulfills TB, Immunization, and Employee Health Requirements.
  • Remains compliant with department specific education and skill sets.

V. POSITION REQUIREMENTS – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, JOB KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:4

Education/Training: Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, some college courses with 5+ years of relevant management experience is acceptable.

Job Knowledge/Experience: Required:

  • Must possess a minimum of three years of proven work experience in a leadership role within an acute care setting.
  • Must have experience in managing multiple sites.

Preferred:

  • Five years minimum experience in a large academic medical center is strongly preferred.
  • Experience directing/managing a unionized workforce is strongly preferred.

License(s): Required:

  • Industry specific certification/licensure may be required.

Language/Writing/Communication Requirements: Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An intermediate level of proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and other business software.

VI. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:5

  • Reports directly to facility designated administrator and ABM Healthcare Support Services Regional Director of Operations.
  • Receives direction from ABM Healthcare Support Services Regional Director of Operations.
  • Works cooperatively with rest of Management Team, Regional Directors of Operations, and ABM Healthcare Support Services Management Personnel.
  • Reports to facility administration and Corporate Regional Director of Operations.
  • Reporting requirements will include, but will not be limited to weekly reports, bi-weekly reports, monthly reports and annual reports. Facility administration and/or Regional Director of Operations may change the frequency of reports at any time.

VIII. MACHINERY/EQUIPMENT/TOOLS OPERATED (i.e., typewriter, PC, automobile, etc.)6

  • Works in a health care environment.
  • This position requires walking, sitting, standing, operation of a computer keyboard. Must also have the ability to operate basic housekeeping equipment in a teaching environment.
  • May be required to travel via automobile to meetings and hospital related functions.
  • Daily exposure to various healthcare related illnesses normally associated within a hospital environment.
  • This position requires the use of telephones and pagers throughout the day.

ABM Healthcare Support Services required testing:

  • 10 panel drug screen for controlled substances

Required by account/facility:

  • Physical examination – must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • MMR titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series or signed declination
  • Flu shot (October 1 through April 30)
  • PPD skin test (2-step)
  • History of chicken pox or Varicella vaccine
