The Support Assistant should have a strong passion for community connections and outreach. The ideal candidate is from the community that the Metro region serves, and has lived experience navigating complex health systems. 

The role is primarily responsible for connecting and forming strong, lasting relationships with families and patients through coordination of internal and external partners to support successful navigation within the Children’s Medical Group Metro Region. The Support Assistant works closely with families to assess their needs and to connect them to health care, community and social resources as necessary. The Support Assistant will work to become a trusted resource for families with complete social-economic and primary care needs. They will work with the care team to ensure follow-up and coordination of recommended visit follow up.

The MASA is responsible for making and answering calls, schedules appointments for incoming phone calls or patients checking out from their appointments, responding to text messages, taking messages for RN triage or warm transferring Emergent calls to RN triage following the Appointment Scheduling Module, Patient Communications Module and patient preferences. Schedules and coordinates appointments for families for clinic or video visits. Confirms accurate information in a patient record by obtaining all necessary registration information at the time of scheduling.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).

Experience

Requires 3 years of experience in customer service. Requires 1 year of experience working with underserved and underrepresented populations. 

The ideal candidate has lived experience navigating complex health systems. 

Prior healthcare experence and work with Epic is strongly preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children’s values and support our mission and vision.

Knowledge of medical terminology, medical menu software, patient scheduling and business office procedures preferred.

Requires excellent interpersonal skills in order to assist patients, parents, and providers and other staff.

Requires good concentration skills in order to serve a variety of people in a fast paced environment and to handle incoming calls in an efficient and accurate manner.

Required flexibility in order to prioritize efforts to meet needs of the patients, parents, providers and other staff.

Required to travel to other clinic sites as needed.

This position is working onsite at our Midtown Clinic. It is full time and comes with our full benefits package. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:00.
