Responsibilities

As a Network Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization's computer networks. As a member of the IT team, you will ensure that the networks are operating efficiently, securely, and effectively to meet the needs of the organization's operations. This role requires strong technical skills, strategic planning abilities, and effective communication to manage network infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and implement network upgrades.

Network Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the organization's local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and telephony environments.
  • Ensure network infrastructure meets performance, security, and scalability requirements.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network traffic for efficient operation.
  • Implement network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.

Network Administration:

  • Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, following device hardening and secure configuration requirements.
  • Manage IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols, and other network protocols.
  • Conduct regular backups and ensure network documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Perform network upgrades and expansion as needed to support business growth.
  • Analyze system functions and failures to isolate and define problem areas.
  • Monitor the reachability of all connections within the network adhering to circuit restoral priorities and initiate troubleshooting to restore full network capability.
  • Monitor system performance and track usage and develop and deliver a trend analysis of system load, usage and response
  • Perform diagnostic analysis of the network system, identify possible faulty devices, troubleshoot faulty modules, troubleshoot network problems and outages and prepare necessary documentation detailing actions taken

  • Provide on-site and telephonic technical services necessary to insure the continuing operation and optimization of the network

Security Management:

  • Develop and implement network security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address security risks.
  • Monitor network traffic for signs of security breaches and take appropriate action to mitigate threats.
  • Respond to security incidents in a timely and effective manner, including incident investigation and resolution.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead a team of network engineers/administrators, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure alignment of network infrastructure with business objectives.

  • Communicate network-related issues, project updates, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for network-related services and support. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in network administration or network engineering roles, with 3 - 5 years in a leadership or management position.
  • Some travel will be required for the purpose of meeting with site personnel, Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required.
  • Pursuant to International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”), applicants for SELECT positions will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residence, or U.S. Immigration Status in order to meet the minimum qualifications for those select positions. All inquiries related to citizenship are asked solely to comply with ITAR and EAR export licensing requirements.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. 
  • In-depth knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, and standards (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, SD-WAN, routing protocols).
  • Strong understanding of VOIP systems, Cisco Unity is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nagios, SolarWinds).
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Prior experience in the aerospace and/or manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and ‘attention to detail’ skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communications, organizational, teamwork, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate outstanding level of professionalism, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
  • Drive and resourcefulness in making contributions both inside and outside assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to work both independently (under consultative direction only) and as part of a team.
