Job description:
  • A scientist position is available in our Neuroscience Discovery Therapeutic Area focusing on Alzheimer disease research.
  • The candidate will have state-of-the-art knowledge of vitro electrophysiology. In depth expertise in brain slices recording including extracellular field potentials, and whole cell patch clamp recordings is required. Experience with electrophysiology in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases would be advantageous.
  • As part of a multidisciplinary project team, the candidate will function as a research scientist in the electrophysiology lab to develop, plan and run electrophysiological recordings to assess synaptic and neuronal function in line with project requirements.
  • Work will focus on drug discovery as well as technology development.  Specifically the below will be a topic of the position:
    • Identification and validation of targets that modulate synaptic function.
    • Assay development in support of drug discovery projects on above validated targets.
  • The candidate is expected to actively participate in a multi-disciplinary drug discovery team with the goal to deliver NMEs in the area of disease intervention in Alzheimer´s disease.


Qualifications
Profile:
  • Candidates should have a PhD in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or related discipline and at least 3-5 years of experience in electrophysiology (including PhD training); 
  • Have demonstrated experience in directing research independently and an excellent publication record;
  • Initial knowledge and proven experience in drug discovery and development process is advantageous;
  • Have the ability to operate within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Possess an enthusiastic, flexible and creative approach to problem solving;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
