We are committed to doing the right thing in our journalism and in every role at NPR. This means that integrity, adherence to our ethical standards, and compliance with legal obligations are fundamental responsibilities for every employee at NPR.

Planet Money is one of the most listened-to and ambitious business reporting shows around. We reach millions of people each week and we take our obligation to inform, delight, and surprise our audience as our guiding mission. We’re a tight-knight, highly collaborative, highly productive team of curious economics and business reporters, and we love telling stories and geeking out about ideas together. Come join us.

This Temporary Senior Producer helps set the standards and leads by example on how we make the sound of the showset and uphold the highest production standards in all ways including, but not just, on quality, efficiency, creativity, work life balance and generally making sure we enjoy working together. This is our top producer and an integral member of our editorial leadership team, someone who must balance editorial judgment with production skills; experience with experimentation; news judgment and storytelling needs; and who can teach colleagues all of that with grace and patience and high standards. We want someone who will delegate generously to junior staff, guide them in taking on stretch assignments but with support, and with a track record of skilling up the work of colleagues and more junior staff.

We are looking for someone experienced in leading other producers, making tough editorial calls on deadline, balancing the demands of news and also of narrative, and working extremely closely with some extremely talented colleagues who care a lot about their work and their mission. We also want this person to contribute to our group edits and our pitch process, and be a part of assessing what stories get greenlit and how they will be reported and executed; then making sure that it all goes smoothly.
