Position Summary:

The CPM Software Defect Specialist manages a cross functional software development team to insure software defects are managed throughout the development lifecycle, per Harman PLM processes.  This role also works with the customer regarding defect progress and planning. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

HARMAN is at the forefront of developing new in-vehicle infotainment and connectivity systems that let drivers and passengers be entertained, connected, efficient, and productive while in the car.  As such, our systems are leading the industry with exciting innovations in multimedia, connectivity, car-centric applications, navigation, advanced safety, and multi-modal interfaces.  This position will be at the center of the development, working closely with our OEM partners, internal and customer engineering teams, and select 3rd parties to define next generation features and services.

 

  • Maintain awareness and understanding of approved scope of work for existing projects within CPM group.
  • Lead triage activity of incoming software defects
  • Coordinate with Requirements Engineering to ensure defects are defects against the approved requirements
  • Coordinate defect Change List submissions and fix validation
  • Direct project team, and all support organizations, to ensure all defects are managed and fixes to make the change available to HARMAN’s customer
  • Ensure any relevant project documentation is managed and maintained (scope documents, project schedules, merge requests, build content and validation plans)
  • Indirect responsibility for all Harman software development organizations who deliver work necessary for execution of Harman Infotainment project

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or technical field, or in project management,
  • 5 plus years related software development experience
  • At least 2 plus years of software project management experience, preferably related to technical product development or automotive component project management.
  • Must have general knowledge of automotive infotainment systems and their applications
  • Ability to work effectively within a global, matrix environment.
  • Prefer experience in staffing, strategic planning, and project management fundamentals.
  • Prefer demonstrated discipline to lead a global, cross-functional team to adhere to documented processes.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
  • Willingness to work in an office in Novi, MI
