About the opportunity:

Oversee all operations of the retail pharmacies (Vail Pharmacy and Edwards Pharmacy) and ensure that all Colorado state and federal laws are followed, as well as the mission, vision, and values of Vail Health. Interpret, prepare, profile, and dispense medications on the order of licensed medical providers. Oversee all daily operations of the pharmacy.

What you will do:

  1. Perform all duties required of a Pharmacy Manager per the Colorado Board of Pharmacy Regulations.
  2. Responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the pharmacy (guided by the FY budget) including (but not limited to) third party reconciliation, maintaining staffing levels within budget, aiding the pharmacy director in analyzing any budget variances, and helping to develop action plans to rectify any shortfalls. Assists pharmacy director in developing annual goals which enhance and support the basic goals of the organization, the outpatient pharmacy department, and individual staff members.
  3. Responsible for inventory control in the pharmacy. Maintain par levels of medications and aid the pharmacy director in prescription pricing strategies.
  4. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with professionalism on various processes, initiatives, and new service lines.
  5. Under supervision of the pharmacy director, develop, review and revise pharmacy practice guidelines and policies ensuring the pharmacy operates under current pharmacy law. Aid the pharmacy director in keeping abreast of changes in the practice of retail pharmacy that will help keep the pharmacy at the forefront of developing business strategies.
  6. Responsible for supervising staff, including hiring, training, terminating, disciplinary actions, performance coaching and evaluations. Ensure staff compliance with all organizational policies.
  7. Responsible for keeping up to date with the prescription software and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Maintain own knowledge and competency by reviewing current literature and attending relevant education programs.
  8. Interpret and evaluate provider orders for medications and prescriptions.
  9. Evaluate medications for dosage, route, frequency, and interactions, and provide care based upon physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety that is appropriate to the age of the patient served.
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Role model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:

Experience:

  • Two years of previous pharmacy management experience required.

License(s):

  • State of Colorado Pharmacist license required.

Certification(s):

  • Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate OR Adult Immunization Training Program for Pharmacists certificate required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Computer / Typing:

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Education:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent degree required.
  • MBA preferred.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per year.

Yearly Pay:

$130,089.03—$185,831.78 USD
