The Strategic Buyer implements Commodity strategies to ensure a long-term, cost-efficient supply of materials. The Strategic Buyer is efficiently executing tactical purchasing processes in line with the given budget. The Strategic Buyer is securing the supply of material based on customer requirements at the lowest price while ensuring quality and on-time delivery (Total Cost of Ownership).

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Identifies stakeholder requirements and supports the execution process
  • Liaises closely with end-users to determine their requirements, providing input into the sourcing process. Ensures end-users' requirements are sufficiently detailed in an appropriate format
  • Negotiates local or regional contracts in conjunction with relevant procurement managers
  • Develops and implements strategies for negotiations with suppliers
  • Ensures items are delivered on time and expedited where necessary
  • Identifies potential contractual items and liaises with the strategic commodity management to ensure such items are added to existing contracts or appropriate contracts are established
  • Responds to requests from end users and suppliers for the addition and/or removal of items to or from contracts
  • Monitors supplier delivery and quality performance. Escalates findings to relevant stakeholders and, where appropriate, addresses performance issues with suppliers
  • Contributes to EcoSystem commodity strategy development
  • Provides support to the commodity strategy in developing a business listing of preferred suppliers
  • Supports and maintains supplier segmentation of the relevant supply base via actively representing the Customer view in Commodity Circles
  • Suggests and works with the commodity team to establish process improvements, contributing to implementation and adherence on-site
  • Analyzes local and regional market trends and their utilization in commodity strategy
  • Monitors supplier performance and informs relevant stakeholders about this performance under the guidance of Commodity leadership
  • Defines local/regional material field strategy for non-pooled commodities

What You Bring (requirements)

  • A bachelor’s degree in technical, engineering, or business field is must. A master’s degree is an added advantage
  • 6-10 years of work experience in the procurement, strategic sourcing and purchasing area in industry
  • Strong commercial and technical knowledge of procurement, project management, and international contract law
  • Experience in advanced international negotiations and Strategic Sourcing
  • Fluent in English
