What you will do

The HVAC Facilities Technician (Operations & Maintenance Specialist) is part of our Building Technologies & Solutions business at Johnson Controls. We are looking for a Building Environment Specialist. The successful candidate will be located at the Lakehead University campus in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This individual will be responsible for maintaining University Buildings and Grounds. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical and maintenance facilities experience. How you will do it

  • Performs a variety of repairs and services in a specialized building system environment with a high emphasis on HVAC, Mechanical Systems, including building automation. Working knowledge of BAS, and other similar types of related equipment and systems is a PLUS. 
  • Service, Repair, Maintain, Monitor and adjust building automation to keep within allowable parameters.
  • Assist with planning, selecting, and laying out required materials for service, repair, and preventive maintenance work.
  • Requisitions new supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare energy use tracking reports, recommend optimization, and identify additional savings opportunities
  • Maintains logs, records, manuals
  • Works from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts, or verbal instructions and operates a variety of tools and machines incidental to operations.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What we look for

Required 

  • Completion of a two-year technical degree, equivalent or two years’ experience as an Operations & Maintenance Specialist plus at least 2 years’ experience in a Facility Maintenance environment.
  • Working and operating knowledge of Metasys (BMS).
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of various maintenance fundamentals sufficient to deal with service and repairs requests.
  • Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, operate machinery, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., etc.
  • Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • May be required to possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background check and subject interview.
