Description

About Us

At HDR, we specialise in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. However, we take a modest approach to talking about ourselves so you may not be familiar with our achievements. We are a growing international consultant, ranked in the Top Ten Design Firms in the World (ENR 2023 Top 500 Design Firms). Established for more than a century, with over 13,000 staff and an employee-owned company with shareholding available to all staff following probation, we offer something different.

In Australia, our team already provides design services to some of the largest transportation projects across Queensland, including the Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central Package and we are now looking for an experienced practitioner to join our team in Victoria as part of enhancing our Australia capability.

HDR supports a diverse and inclusive work environment as well as equal employment opportunities. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and people of culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.

The Role

As part of our continued growth in Australia, HDR is currently seeking a highly experienced Highways Engineer at Principal or Associate Director level to join our Transport Infrastructure business. Based in Melbourne, this role will see you taking the technical lead on highway projects, providing technical leadership and mentoring to our growing team. You may also act as Design Manager for these projects. Utilising your experience and expertise, and working alongside our Regional Director in Victoria, you will be responsible for driving further business development and growth activities for HDR across the region through your established industry relationships with clients and contractors and your reputation for delivery.

As Principal Highways Engineer / Design Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Serve in a senior technical role on complex highway planning, design and design & construct projects.
  • Foster and grow client relationships across the region.
  • Oversee and undertake the production of technical reports and construction documents.
  • Conduct technical reviews & verification of projects.
  • Be a team player with a drive for continuous learning.
  • Contribute to building a strong, diverse organisation that embraces inclusion with respect and appreciation for the value we each bring to our clients and to HDR.
  • Coach and mentor our growing team.
