As a Senior Manager Building Water Systems (Filtration Team), you will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations of Certification Programs including workflow management, product reviews, sample selection, test report evaluation, service delivery, continuous process improvement initiatives, and standards development activities. 

Principal Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee staff members in identifying required samples, determining material extraction and performance testing, evaluating test reports and documentation required for certification or registration services.
  • Select, train, develop, motivate and evaluate a competent workforce.
  • Manage assignment of tasks and responsibilities to ensure level and balanced workflow. Monitor data and reports and reallocate resources as necessary to meet department production objectives. 
  • Ensure that the operations meet all production objectives for turnaround times, quality and output.
  • Oversee the review of records, reports, and other documentation to substantiate and authorize Certification. Authorize certification transfers from competing certification bodies through the review of test reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Business Lead to support daily operations and to ensure priority alignment between relational and transactional teams. 
  • Collaborate with the Business Lead and Technical Operations Lead in the development and implementation of annual and strategic plans. 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support new business development initiatives through approval of project quotations, development of certification schemes, and technical discussions with potential clients.
  • Communicate with clients and relational staff on technical issues relating to product compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Business Lead and Technical Operations Lead in the development, implementation, and revision of Certification policies.
  • Interpret standards and policies to direct development of new bracketing, testing, or evaluation schemes for novel products.
  • Oversee collaboration with laboratory management to ensure proper testing and associated documentation and database systems are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
  • Collaborate with laboratory management in the development, improvement, and implementation of testing schemes and standard changes.
  • Oversee the development of and updates to standard operating procedures for assigned area.
  • Develop and implement strategies that ensure standard revisions and standards development activities support the objectives of the NSF Certification program.
  • Actively participate in joint committee meetings, industry forums, and other public health and industry groups. Assign team participation as necessary.
  • Represent NSF to clients, trade associations, and governmental agencies.
  • Work closely with corporate Quality Assurance to ensure that operations comply with accreditation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in toxicology, chemistry, engineering or related field and a minimum of five (5) years related work experience
  • Significant experience conducting NSF technical reviews or with the NSF Product Certification Programs
  • High level of technical aptitude and attention to details.
  • Working knowledge of NSF and ISO standards.
  • College-level coursework in inorganic and organic chemistry or applicable experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of NSF policies and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workflow in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft software.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced degree, e.g., Master’s in the sciences.
  • Experience in Business Management.
  • Experience with supervising / managing staff.
  • Experience in conducting and/or evaluating chemistry studies.
  • Experience in conducting and/or evaluating toxicology studies.
  • Experience with computer-based statistical analyses.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
