Do you have a background in project controls and scheduling? Do you have the experience and desire to be part of a high performing team of Project Controller delivering advanced technical capabilities?

This is an exciting opportunity to join our evolving Integrated Sensing and Protection Line of Business. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to drive growth within the Project Controls team.

As the Product Areas continues to expand, you will be the focal point and subject matter expert for Project Controls, developing the delivery of professional project controls and analysis services, alongside acting as part of the Integrated Project Team for that Product Area.

What you will do as the Project Controls Lead

  • Accountable for the quality and integrity of the Project Controls on Projects/ Programmes through the application of consistent processes, methods, governance and provision of guidance to the wider IPT.
  • Working as part of an IPT, drive and promote optimal schedule quality and best practice management techniques including application of schedule risk analysis at all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Provide Project Controls expertise to the establishment and management of activities in the bid phase to ensure best practice is followed, risks managed and schedules can transition to execution with minimal impact
  • Manage the integrity of Partner/Subcontractor schedules to ensure dependences are clearly identified and risks managed/identified within the Leonardo project schedule
  • Conduct what if and scenario analysis/ planning to drive decision taking and risk mitigation
  • Identify and manage Schedule Risks, apply Schedule Risk Analysis Techniques, work proactively with the project team to implement mitigation plans and corrective actions and monitor their effectivness
  • Ensure Project Controls metrics and measures (including Earned Value) are consistently applied, understood and relevant action taken to drive required outcomes and achievement of Company standards/ Project Objectives
  • Applies resource scheduling techniques to optimise schedules, identify and proactively resolves conflicts across the Integrated Project Team and Business Unit
  • Coach, mentor and train other members of the Project Controls function (or other functions) as required
  • Actively contribute to Integrated Project Team and Business area Project reviews through delivering the Project Controls inputs and leading on these aspects in the reviews
  • Identify, support and drive continuous improvement initiatives working both across the function and within the business area
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all functions across the Business Area/ Integrated Project Team in order to influence project activities.
  • Conduct independent assessment of schedule quality/risk as a contributor to the LCM process and in accordance with LCM principles.

What we need from you:

You really must have:

  • Comprehensive and demonstrable project Controls/ planning experience with proven expertise in all aspects of planning, project controls and project management methodologies (including Agile) across Projects of varying value/ complexity
  • Expert User in Planning/ERP Tools (including Primavera P6 and ideally SAP)
  • Breadth of experience in all parts of lifecycle and experience in the phases of Initiation, planning and execution
  • Proven collaboration, communication, planning, problem solving, decision making skills
  • Application of Schedule Risk Analysis including identification, methods of analysis and recommendations for management
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Holds APMG Project Controls Foundation and Practitioner Level Certification or meets the criteria to undertake this training
  • Ability to engage and influence cross-functional teams and recognise and positively interact with stakeholders up to VP level
  • Works independently, in compliance with all procedures and able to recognise appropriate escalation scenarios

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience of coaching, mentoring or team leadership
  • Able to act as delegate for Project/ Programme Controls Manager
