Job Description

Kite’s Global Data and Digital Innovation (GDDI) team is the engine catalyzing transformation to deliver premier HCP and patient experience through advanced data and digital capabilities. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Director of Global Advanced Analytics and Data Science to lead global data intelligence and analytics in support of our Commercial program. This pivotal role involves strategizing, developing, and implementing data science solutions to enhance and elevate customer and patient experiences, across all modes of communication, including channels, content, messages, etc. and contributing to our overall mission of bringing the promise of cell therapy to as many eligible patients as possible.

This position will also have the responsibility for advanced analytics initiatives such as patient event prediction, customer segmentation, etc. Overall, this is a key role in implementing data-driven strategies that will significantly impact our business' results in a competitive landscape.

This opportunity is based at Kite’s Global HQ in Santa Monica, CA (preferred) or Foster City, CA with occasional (~10%) travel to other Kite / Gilead locations globally, as required by the role.

This is a global commercial leadership position in the Global Analytics and Commercial Operations (GACO) organization and reports to the head of Global Data and Digital Innovation (GDDI) . The GDDI team is accountable for enhancing data and digital capabilities across Kite’s Commercial organization and the customers we serve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a global leadership role with following responsibilities:

  • Leadership, Strategy, and Value Realization: Provide visionary leadership in the role of data science in encouraging the development and implementation of best-in-class strategies for omnichannel customer engagement, and in advanced analytics solutions to meet the needs of our commercial teams.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders to diagnose needs and deliver data-driven results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align advanced analytics and data science initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Encourage change and adoption in the organization.
  • Communicate and engage with stakeholders to continuously improve the value delivered to our stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex data analytics and data science concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders within the organization clearly and effectively.
  • Develop and oversee a team of data scientists, analysts, and contributors to drive optimal analytics solutions for the business.
  • Lead Advanced Analytics initiatives: Develop and lead innovative advanced analytics strategies and methods that effectively address the business goals and needs of our brands. Maintain continuous alignment of the advanced analytics team with our commercial business strategy, keeping up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competition, and overall market and regulatory landscape. Support Advanced Analytics capabilities including supporting ongoing upkeep and operations.
  • AI/ML Intelligence Models: Develop models to elevate impact through our omni-channel programs – examples might include
  • Development of advanced ML models to leverage customer and other sources of data, to facilitate improved engagement of our customers across communication platforms, such as digital platforms, social media, CRM Data, and more. Create insights that inform marketing strategies, and customer experience enhancement.
  • Customer Behavior Modeling: Lead efforts to analyze customer behavior patterns and preferences through data mining, machine learning, and predictive analytics. Translate insights into actionable recommendations for optimizing engagement strategies, and scale models to generate impact at scale.
  • Personalization: Spearhead the creation of personalized experiences for customers by developing sophisticated personalization models. Utilize critical thinker insights to tailor marketing content, recommendations, and communication strategies.
  • Impact measurement: Improve measurement strategies and controlled experiments to understand impact of our programs.
  • Data Governance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (such as GDPR and HIPAA) and uphold the highest standards of data ethics.
  • Capability Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging data science capabilities and industry trends in service of personalization and customer engagement models. Evaluate and recommend new capabilities that can enhance existing techniques and encourage business growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Market Insights (Global and Regional), IT, Marketing, Sales, Analytics teams to integrate data-driven insights into data science and and AA projects.
  • Organizational Change Management: Formulate and implement change management strategies, to strengthen adoption, cross-enterprise communities of practice, continuous improvement, and creativity. Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Base: Support the development of comprehensive documentation and maintain a knowledge base to ensure business continuity, retain intellectual property, and facilitate information sharing.
  • Vendor Management: Proactively manage and optimize business vendor relationships, oversee contract negotiations, and ensure consistent performance and delivery to support operational needs and strategic goals.
  • People Management & Team Leadership: Develop a high-performing global team. Create a collaborative environment, manage performance, cultivate professional growth, and ensure achievement of all set business goals and objectives.
  • Budget Management & Resource Allocation: Manage department budget to agreed financial target and effectively allocate resources to ensure optimal utilization and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Culture: Create and promote individual and team accountability, empowerment, and engagement. Recognize diverse perspectives and promote inclusivity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) and 10+ years of experience OR
  • Master’s Degree and 12+ years of experience OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 14+ years of experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master's) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in life science industry preferably in Oncology/Rare Disease area.
  • Demonstrated experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics, with a track record of applying these skills to customer engagement or marketing metrics in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
  • Meaningful leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team of data scientists and analysts.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and proficiency in using data manipulation and visualization libraries.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning, AI techniques, and their practical applications.
  • Experience with handling and analyzing large, complex datasets and integrating data from various sources.
  • Experience developing and supporting enterprise teams to develop end-to-end ML results and applications. A good understanding of ML Engineering and ML Operations will be a excellent plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, deliver, and develop high performing teams to meet the needs of a highly dynamic and complex business
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and ethical considerations in data science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent business acumen and the ability to align data science strategies with overarching business goals.

The salary range for this position is: $225,590.00 - $291,940.00. Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
