Market Data Desktop Product Manager is a highly technical role supporting market data applications & data feeds on a follow the sun basis, which requires specific knowledge of Hong Kong and China location based vendor and exchange solutions. Candidates need excellent communication skills, technical experience with both infrastructure and desktop solutions, basic networking understanding and business level Cantonese & Mandarin.

Knowledge of the rulings around the consumption and publication of data, restrictions on vendor offerings and exchange rulings are desirable, in addition to managing exchange changes and upgrades.

Vendor Management and Data Content knowledge also desirable.

The team is a cross business technology team working closely with its APAC, EMEA & NA counterparts through a follow-the-sun model, focussing on issue resolution, sharing of processes and product rollouts. We are entrusted to support all lines of business across all asset classes, including front/back office, sales, traders, analysts and technology operate teams across all lines of business. The team is also accounable for all investment activity in their area which includes, but is not limited to datacenter exits, HW & SW upgrades, on boarding of new services, support of business expansion etc.

The team provides 7am to 7pm support Monday to Friday working a rolling shift pattern: 

Early (7am – 3pm), Middle (9am – 5pm) and Late (11am – 7pm).

Weekday on call and weekend support, once every 4 to 5 weeks.

The Role:

  • Responsible for 2nd/3rd line support of core Market Data services/applications including Open Bloomberg, Eikon, FactSet, FX Trader, CME Workstation, Arcontech Excelerator, MorningStar, WIND, HKEX, Infocast…
  • Provide technical support of a wide range of broker and trading applications including TradeWeb, ICAP, MTS, ICE GUIs, XT Auction, BSE, Tullet Prebon, BGC, GFI, CQG, MarketAxess and Eurex
  • Fulfilment and coordination of vendor software packaging (both Market Data and Trading applications), including scripting, QA testing and production release across the global user base
  • Provide a knowledgeable and responsive reaction as issues arise, take part in the proactive monitoring of the environment, work within a strong change control environment and successfully plan/deliver small to medium sized projects such as product upgrades including coordinating decommissions, process improvement initiatives, exchange driven changes
  • Participation in review of hygiene metrics and processes and continuous improvement is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Management: Perform daily operational management of market data environment, capacity management and problem resolution activities
  • Incident Management: Responsible for the efficient resolution of issues to minimize impact to clients including liaising with/coordination of end users, team members, management, vendors
  • Change Management: Plan, schedule, test, implement and document change activities without impacting/conflicting with other activities
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement areas for improvement within existing operational and technical processes and maintain related documentation
  • Participation in review of hygiene metrics and processes and continuous improvement is required
  • Liaising with plan/build teams to ensure smooth transition from project to business as usual for new products and processes
  • Responsible for working with vendors to drive technical strategy and delivery of applications
  • Environmental hygiene efforts (vulnerability remediation, CAF, weekly reboot and patching reports, MEPC coordination and others)

Essential Skills:

  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Effective communicator with good written and verbal communication skills, interaction with traders, support teams and vendors being an important part of the role
  • Strong coordination skills in managing vendors as part of day issues or upgrades
  • Technical trouble shooting experience with proven ability to manage high profile time critical issues. Acts as a positive member of the team that is capable of engaging in deep technical discussions, accepting different point of view and drive forward to develop agreed upon solutions
  • Good working knowledge of scripting, including PowerShell, batch files and visual basic as part of the internal packaging process of vendor software
  • Strong desire to share knowledge, ideas and solutions with immediate team as well as teams across disciplines
  • Previous experience of working in an environment with change management structures and processes plus problem ticketing and resolution systems (knowledge of ITL)
  • Documentation diligence - a strong ethos of knowledge management is essential to ensure internal records relating to versions, support documentation and technical diagrams are updated following changes/upgrades.

  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage own workload
  • Work well individually and in a team setting
  • Able to prioritize workflow and work accurately under pressure, paying attention to detail and anticipating issues and dealing with them proactively
  • Industry experience, with a breadth of knowledge across application deployment, application support and infrastructure support is required
  • Vendor subject matter expert to support downstream teams and clients
  • Build and maintain strong internal relationships, understanding the need to be client focused and build strong relationships across the organizations
  • Self-starter always seeking new opportunities to improve process and build on automation in the role

Desirable Skills:

  • A risk, compliance and control background is desirable for identifying and managing IT and market data control gaps across the environment
  • Demonstrate experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and support of virtual desktop environments as well as physical
  • Experience of virtual streaming platforms, including Numecent Cloud Pager and AppV
