POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sustainability Leader is responsible for developing a workplace culture that prioritizes and integrates environmental, social and governance principles into our core business practices. The role will spearhead strategic commercial sustainability growth initiatives that not only enhance brand reputation but contribute to long-term stakeholder value.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organizational Development 20%

  • Lead Operation team in driving cultural consistency and change that align with our core values and support M2S Group vision and sustainability strategy.
  • Support corporate leadership to align cross-functional knowledge and collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainable practices into daily operations and business processes, driving accountability and ownership throughout functions.
  • Effectively communicate with business leaders, other department managers, employees, and ESG professionals on a regular basis to discuss sustainability strategies and programs and emphasize the importance of leading with sustainability.

Environmental Stewardship 40%

  • Stay abreast of environmental regulations and standards relevant to manufacturing operations, communicating critical issues, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement in sustainability.
  • Conduct assessments to identify areas of environmental impact within manufacturing processes, including energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including employees, customers, and communities, to communicate sustainability efforts and gather feedback.
  • Collect and analyze data on sustainability metrics, track progress towards goals, and prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate results and insights to senior management and stakeholders.

Strategic Sustainability 40%

  • Lead the design and implementation of sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency improvements, waste reduction programs, water conservation measures, and renewable energy projects, following company roadmap and action plan to milestone achievement.
  • Drive innovation in sustainable practices, technologies, and solutions to continuously improve and implement sustainability strategies, policies, and initiatives aligned with the organization’s goals, continually assessing, modifying, and communicating company progress.
  • Support sales and marketing to deliver a concise value proposition to the market and provide support and feedback in commercial inquiries and needs.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability management, environmental engineering, or related roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability principles, and best practices in manufacturing operations. Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP) is desirable.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to use metrics and key performance indicators to drive decision-making and measure progress towards sustainability goals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading sustainability initiatives, from conception to implementation, including project planning, stakeholder engagement, and performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for driving innovation in sustainability practices, with a focus on identifying and implementing cutting-edge solutions.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving change in a collaborative and inclusive manner.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

POSITION TYPE: Permanent, Full-Time

POSITION LOCATION: 825 E. Wisconsin Ave, Appleton, WI 54912-0359

WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid remote option available. This position works between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The schedule may fluctuate and can include, but is not limited to, working evenings, weekends, and holidays. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
