POSITION SUMMARY:
The Art Director assists the Creative Director and Sr. Art Director with concepts, design, layout and still life/fashion photography development. The Art Director will be expected to analyze, interpret and transform customer information/data into a strategy for a visual sales technique that fits the individual brand personality. The Art Director will be expected to concept, design and direct photography for catalog, collateral or web and produce consistent and unique visuals that reinforce and enhance the merchandising strategy. The Art Director is responsible for meeting creative schedules in order to ensure that all deadlines are met and vigorously adheres to established guidelines and legal requests and requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Skillfully generate dynamic creative presentations based on experience and knowledge of all customer segments for a multi-channel brand.
- Keen awareness of the important role that design and art/photo direction plays in driving sales as well as the development and growth of the brand personality.
- Work on all stages of creative from concept development through release. This includes layout design and presentation; attend still and/or fashion photo shoots, film editing and placing, film and page presentation and final page file approval.
- Design all web initiatives including site updates, emails, banner ads etc. with ability to interpret and transform brand positioning and print visuals to an online platform.
- Work closely with Creative Director and Copywriters to ensure the visuals support and enhance the copy and merchandising strategy for a cohesive message that will drive sales.
- Collaborate with Desktop Artists and Production Manager to ensure proper follow-through of creative concept, technical accuracy, talent selection and budget and timeliness.
- Oversee the completion of all creative projects on time and within budget.
- Participate with senior creative team to develop and evolve a long-term creative/copy strategy for the brand.
- Participate with merchandising and product team to continue and/enhance process development for the creative presentation of the brand.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (in design field a must)
- 5-8 years relevant experience in catalog desktop, art direction and design
- Proficient in Desktop Publishing file formats and software on a MAC including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Hands-on experience directing digital still and fashion photography
- Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative: a “can-do” attitude.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough knowledge of print production/prepress/preparing files for printers.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with all levels of company management, personnel and outside vendors.
- Knowledge and/or familiarity with web navigation and site dynamics
