Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM APAC Field Activation Community Leader

IBM is looking for a strong community leader to support the APAC geo leader and cross geography communications. This leader drives leadership engagement and strategy alignment in support of the geo leader and creates meaningful and memorable experiences that brings the communities together.

The Community Leader works together with the various functions within Marketing and Communications to facilitate the problem-solving and decision-making processes and innovate to benefit the community itself.

As the Geo Community Leader, he/she will promote Geo and Field Marketing and Communications organization’s community moments consistently across the geography and teams to communicate value, identify and amplify best practices. The Leader will design and implement programs that build comradery and engagement across the geo while leveraging site advocates for local activation and establish and scale local culture programs.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as an influencer as well as do-er who works for the welfare of people by solving problems and raising important issues to highlight a sort of change that is required.
  • Focused on keeping people together to work towards a common goal in their community.
  • Drive cultural programs to promote collaboration.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

This role requires good understanding of change management and transformation:

  • Eager to Learn and Adapt – the Leader tries to learn more about challenges and opportunities from various people in their community before finalizing on steps to be taken. Even in between a course of action, the leader is willing to listen to any suggestion or advice and adapt accordingly.
  • Honesty and Integrity – the leader must be trustworthy to the community and the people who listen to him/her. The Leader should create safe spaces for facilitating healthy discussions and make changes for the better accordingly.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills – great communication skills such as mediating, negotiating, active listening, and even articulating arguments that seem essential. The Leader must also have collaborative skills that allow him/her to work comfortably with other leaders and different types of people to create a productive space. Community leaders should be able to convey why and what certain things are needed to be done effectively.
  • Forward Thinking – They are open minded and progressive people who try to think outside of the box to achieve the set goal.
  • A good community leader will ensure interactions within their communities that help people connect and exchange skills and ideas to enrich each other. They will help people develop a sense of community and social responsibility that results in strong alignment, social ties, and better ways of working.
  • Two to four years of experience in related field will be beneficial.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Preferred bachelor’s or master’s Degree/MBA (candidates with proven experience will be considered)
  • Expert in spoken and written standard English.
  • Relevant certifications in Human Resources and Project Management will be ideal.
