System Job Title: Strategic Sourcing Manager 9

Leader Name: Elisha Robinson, Managing Director, Strategic Sourcing

As ATB’s next Director, Technology Strategic Sourcing, you are responsible for driving and delivering on the technology category strategy, while ensuring alignment with ATB’s overall third-party strategy. 

Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategic Sourcing, you will lead the Technology Sourcing team to efficiently and effectively source technology goods and services to optimize value and drive cost efficiencies, all while mitigating risks. You will serve as a strategic partner to ATB’s leaders and provide thought leadership for strategic sourcing, contracting, and regulatory requirements. A key focus will be to enable the technology sourcing team to be strategic advisors to our business partners and establish key partnerships, while ensuring cost and risk are at the forefront of decision making.

Responsibilities include:

Strategy

  • Support the execution of a third party relationship strategy that aligns with ATB’s Path to 2030, Strategic Pillars and third party relationship goals, with a focus on technology sourcing
  • Create relationships with key stakeholders to drive contract and sourcing strategies across the organization
  • Foster and create relationships with senior leaders across the organization to provide strategic advice and guidance
  • Steers vision, sets goals and manages stakeholder expectations for technology sourcing and renewal events

Operational Excellence

  • Lead the Strategic Sourcing technology team to achieve operational effectiveness across the broad base of engagements while developing and balancing the risk profile of the strategic sourcing portfolio
  • Prioritize and optimize Technology Strategic Sourcing initiatives and process evolution to drive efficiency, value creation, risk mitigation, innovation and sustainable procurement in support of enterprise objectives
  • Oversee the development and execution of complex negotiation strategies that utilize a data-driven approach and result in thorough deal analysis and recommendations

Research and Insights

  • Utilize industry best practices and global standards to identify relevant insights and bring thought leadership into ATB’s technology strategic sourcing practices
  • Utilize analytics and market intelligence to make informed procurement, strategic sourcing, data and reporting recommendations, drive continuous improvement and enhance the overall strategic position of the organization

Relationship Management 

  • Partner, collaborate, and build strong relationships with stakeholders to integrate strategic sourcing strategies with broader organizational objectives, fostering a cohesive and agile business ecosystem
  • Provide advice, share knowledge and best practices to sourcing and negotiation strategies

Talent Development and Leadership

  • Provide vision and inspirational leadership across the Technology Sourcing team to help support the achievement of the operating plan and strategic goals
  • Cultivate high-performing, motivated Technology Strategic Sourcing Partners by fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and leadership excellence, nurturing a talent pool capable of driving transformative change
  • Model leadership behavior by example and develop current and future leaders

Requirements

  • University Degree, preferably in the business, financial, economic or supply chain field. An MBA or professional designation is considered an asset (e.g. Project Management Professional, Supply Chain Management Professional, Chartered Professional Accountant, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL))
  • 8+ years of relevant experience within end-to-end third party relationship lifecycle, including direct experience in complex contract negotiations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, leading both individual contributors and leaders
  • 3+ years directly in a technology sourcing role (negotiating, leading, and executing technology contracts and strategies)
  • Understanding of the Canadian trade agreements, and external regulatory requirements that ATB is obligated to follow for its procurement practices, is an asset (e.g.: New West Partnership Trade Agreement, Canadian Free Trade Agreement, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions)
  • Strong business acumen including knowledge of trends in the banking industry and how they relate to ATB’s business environment and strategies
  • Competent in third party governance, risk management and operational compliance management including commercial and legal terms in banking and professional services, facilities, real estate leases, office supplies, and technology agreements
  • Ability to effectively interpret and act on data visualizations and analytics
