Payment Operations - Senior Associate

The role requires a combination of technical expertise in payment processing, leadership skills, regulatory knowledge, and a focus on operational excellence to ensure efficient and compliant handling of payment processing.

As a Payment Operations Senior Associate, you will be tasked to manage a team, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing processes, and maintaining high levels of efficiency and accuracy in processing payments. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Payment Ops Head and be the succession pipeline for Payment Ops Head
  • Supervise and lead a team of payment processing specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of payment processing, including transaction monitoring, verification, and settlement, while ensuring adherence to established procedures and service level agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with international regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and sanctions screening requirements, by implementing robust compliance controls and procedures.
  • Review and improve payment processing workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and minimize processing times, leveraging automation and technology solutions where applicable.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with overseas payments, such as currency exchange fluctuations, fraud, and operational disruptions, by implementing effective risk management strategies and controls.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to payment processing operations, analyze trends, and identify areas for improvement to drive operational excellence and meet organizational objectives.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by promptly addressing inquiries, resolving payment-related issues, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Generate regular reports on payment processing activities, transaction volumes, error rates, and other relevant metrics, providing insights and recommendations to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Stay abreast of changes in payment regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate regulatory risks.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in payment processing operations, with a focus on international payments 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members
  • In-depth knowledge of international payment systems, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Fluent command of English writing and speaking
  • Proficiency in using payment processing software, financial systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. User tool knowledge (Alteryx/ Xceptor is a plus)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levelsholders at all levels
