Salary Range:

$169,000.00 - $219,000.00

What’s the role?

Etsy has seen outstanding growth over the past few years, including our entrance into the S&P 500 and large capitalization equity universe, with a more global shareholder base and increased analyst coverage. As a result, we are seeking a senior level investor relations executive. This is a strategic and highly visible role as a front-line communicator with the investment community.

As the Investor Relations Director you will collaborate with the IR team and C-suite to develop and implement the Company’s IR strategy, operating plans, budget, and global IR program. The primary operating objective of the IR program is to educate and update investors and equity research analysts about the company to achieve a fair relative stock price.

This is a full-time position reporting to the VP, Investor Relations and ESG Engagement. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Serve as a key spokesperson to the financial community on behalf of Etsy by becoming an expert on all things Etsy - our marketplaces, operations, financials, culture, and impact strategies
  • Build Etsy’s high level investor narrative and messaging, reflecting knowledge of the company, our sector and the macro environment, and feedback we hear from investors
  • Develop content for earnings call materials, financial press releases and SEC filings including deep analysis and data interpretation and ability to communicate financial and operational information in a clear and concise way
  • Manage Q&A documents, industry and internal data preparation, presentation development, executive and Board materials
  • Collaborate on Etsy's investor targeting and engagement program; establish meaningful, long-term relationships with the sell and buy-side and other IR customers
  • Contribute to our ESG Disclosure Working group that is responsible for evolving our ESG strategies, narrative and disclosures as a core part of Etsy’s integrated external financial reporting
  • Collaborate with Communications team on all corporate announcements (product launches, marketing initiatives, M&A, financings and so on)
  • Help prepare briefing materials for all investor engagement
  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in Investor Relations and/or sell or buy-side experience, investment banking or in-house corporate finance experience (FP&A, strategic finance, accounting, corporate and business development)
  • Technology /internet /ecommerce/ consumer sectors highly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, Business Administration/Management 
  • MBA, other advanced degree and/ or CFA a plus, but not required
  • Prior experience working in a dynamic, high growth organization
  • Successful track record of being a highly quantitative and analytical problem solver, able to model, analyze, interpret and communicate complicated trends and performance into compelling business narrative for investors to understand
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) - able to write and explain strategic, operational and financial concepts
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Operations, Product, Marketing and more)
  • Trustworthy and dependable - we can count on you to deliver high quality work on time
  • Proactive with a strong attention to detail
  • Located in the NY metropolitan area - while we have flexible working modes, we are also eager to have someone located close to our HQ for many investor and analyst visits!
