Summary

The Digital Sales Advisor will provide technical support to the SGS Crop Advisors and other sales and support staff to maximize the Company's effort to capitalize on the potential of Precision Agriculture. Provide technical support to the sales team. Assess the need for continued education and provide training in Ag Technology areas. Integrate IT advances into SGS sales force to assist in providing solutions to customer needs for products and services. Responsible for mapping including; generating prescription maps, field maps, variable rate irrigation prescriptions, yield analysis, and boundary creation. Making recommendations for zone creation and geo-spatial analysis. Assist the SGS Crop Advisors with soil sampling, collection of EC/EM data. Maintain Precision Ag equipment and make recommendations to customers regarding Precision Ag equipment.

This position requires the incumbent to be located in the Mississippi Delta Area. (Cleveland/Greenville area). 

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize previous experience and training to optimize Precision Agriculture, meeting the Company’s financial goals and operational objectives through effective data analysis and partnership with Crop Advisors and Growers.
  • Advise SGS Crop Advisors of the data gathered with Precision Agriculture, including summarizing and interpreting crop results, and work collaboratively to identify the best products and services for the grower.
  • Through job responsibilities, help customers yield desirable crop results with Precision Agriculture to maintain current customers and gain new customers.
  • Interpret the data gathered from Precision Agriculture and present the information so the Grower and Crop Advisor gain insight as to the specific crop needs and market said products to the grower.
  • Collaborate with other Digital Sales Advisors to increase knowledge, develop sales, review data analytics trends, manage customer relationships and increase profits in the Sales Area.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Accelerate adoption of the digital agronomy platform in SGS to assist in providing solutions to customer needs for products and services.
  • Responsible for mapping including generating prescription maps and field maps, irrigation maps, and yield analysis maps. Interpret data to make recommendations for zone creation and geo-spatial analysis. Create boundaries and zones for growers.
  • Partner with SGS Crop Advisors in soil and tissue sampling, collection of EC/EM data, moisture monitoring, and crop scouting. Maintain precision agriculture equipment, make recommendations to customers regarding equipment and assist with transferring data from ag machinery to the digital agronomy platform.
  • Interpret satellite imagery and analytics and collect and analyze yield information. Serve as a Precision Agriculture partner to Growers and SGS Crop Advisors by managing and communicating irrigation and sensor data so products and services are utilized effectively.
  • Maintain precision ag equipment, make recommendations to customers regarding equipment, and assist in collecting data from ag machinery.

Typical Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a 4-year college or university, preferred in agronomy or ag business (Equivalent experience of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements of the role).

Relevant Experience

  • Must have some agronomic experience. 
  • 3 years of related experience or training.
  • Position will require traveling up to 25% of the time.
  • Strong computer background and skills.

Required Certifications

CCA preferred.

  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills to ensure Crop Advisors and growers have the data-driven guidance and input needed to provide solutions to customer
