Responsibilities

The Opportunity

Coordinate the main actions that ensure safe and healthy working conditions, while meeting the sustainability requirements. He is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the implementation and monitoring of the PepsiCo Global Management System (GEHSMS), ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 as well as the local and federal agencies that have jurisdiction in Puerto Rico (PR OSHA, AAA, DRNA, JCA, DS, EPA, etc.), guaranteeing in turn the operational continuity, in the operation of the Barceloneta Plant.

Your Impact

As HSE Facilitator, your functions would consist of …

  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA standards, as well as applicable legal requirements that guarantee business continuity.
  • Direct the implementation of the EHS standards required by PepsiCo's Global Environmental, Health and Safety Management System, as well as the local and federal agencies with jurisdiction in Puerto Rico.
  • Guarantee compliance with the SASS training plan, in accordance with the requirements of PepsiCo and local and federal
  • agencies with jurisdiction in Puerto Rico.
  • Coordinate risk assessments for EHS programs, and detection of unsafe conditions in order to establish the potential risks and control measures to be implemented to achieve compliance with the requirements of PepsiCo and local and federal agencies with jurisdiction in Puerto Rico.
  • Ensure compliance with the Accident Report and Investigation program, as well as the Puerto Rico State Insurance Fund
  • program.
  • Guarantee the delivery of annual reports to PR OSHA with the required periodicity.
  • Consolidate the purchasing processes related to EHS needs, including quotes, requisitions, receipt of invoices and everything that this process entails, is carried out in accordance with the policies established by PepsiCo.
  • Lead activities in favor of the development of the environment, health and safety culture.
  • Direct and ensure the administration of the Emergency Response Committee, as well as the execution of training and annualcertification of the Emergency Response Committee.
  • Supervise the sustainability programs in Puerto Rico. Mainly those required by the Resource Conservation program: Water, Energy, Gas and Waste.
  • Guarantee the mid-year review of the main SASS indicators with senior management.
  • Follow up on the sustainability programs in Puerto Rico and the indicators linked to them, as well as the implementation of initiatives to comply with the established indicators. Mainly those required by the Resource Conservation program: Water, Energy.
  • Ensure weekly or monthly reporting according to the case of SASS KPIS in the corresponding channels.
  • Promote and maintain Zero Waste to landifll.
  • Lead internal audit processes in SASS that are applicable.
  • Ensure the correct registration, reporting and documentation of the incident, accident, near misses or acts and unsafe condition.
  • Ensure compliance with the annual operating plan for SASS indicators, including preventive indicators and any other required.
  • Manage contractors and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Support and guide health, safety and sustainability facilitators in the implementation of programs.
  • Lead and ensure the performance of annual SASS inspections.
  • Develop and implement action plans and projects to ensure corrective actions, taking into consideration the severity of the finding.
  • Report the results as required by the CARICAM and LATAM team.
  • Ensure that the regulatory samplings, required by the AAA, DNER, EPA are carried out according to the frequency established in the different permits. As well as ensuring the preparation and timely submission of the regulatory reports required by the AAA, DRNA, and JCA in accordance with the provisions of the respective permits.
  • Lead new and existing equipment review processes to ensure that they meet EHS standards.
  • Guarantee 100% compliance with issues related to safety, health and the environment. Special attention to the operation of the WWTP and local and federal environmental legal audits with jurisdiction in Puerto Rico.
  • Administer and manage services with suppliers complying with the purchasing policy.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and productive environment.
  • Anticipates possible problems and risks, and generates ideas and solutions.

Note: The tasks described are not limiting, some required within the SASS department can also be added, and the periodicity of

execution could be variable depending on the need or requirement.

Qualifications

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Industrial Engineer, Bachelor of Environmental Engineering or science related with the EHS field.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office and ability to learn new software/programs as opportunities or department needs arise.
  • Three years or more of experience in related work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Full availability of days and hours of work.
  • Availability to travel inside and outside Pueto Rico.
  • High knowledges level in Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and regulatory agencies.
  • Language skills, ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, such as permits, standards, regulations, among others..
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and negotiation skills.
  • Highly effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with team, internal customers and suppliers that
  • includes a strong focus on teamwork.
  • OSHA 30 hours General Industry Certification or other related certification.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
