Functional Competencies –

- Deep understanding of contract law and corporate law across APAC and be able to draft and review contracts in both English and Chinese.
- Interprets and explains information to audiences who are not familiar with the subject matter often requiring persuasion.
Key Result Areas:
In particular, the Associate Counsel will work on and support the Senior Counsel and the rest of the Legal Team with the following activities.
- Draft and review various legal agreements, focusing on real estate, indirect procurement, service providers and labor and employment.
- Prepare and administer intercompany agreements to ensure compliance with data sharing, and tax structuring, in compliance with local laws and shareholder agreements.
- Support the Senior Counsel in deal facilitation, including due diligence, negotiations, contract execution, and post-closing activities.
- Work closely with other legal counsels on corporate secretarial activities, contributing to a cohesive legal strategy.
- Keep abreast of relevant legal developments in contracts and civil procedure within the APAC region.
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders as well as VF brand representatives.
- Conduct audits and plan remedial actions across VF’s organizational practices.
- Contribute to educational, communication, and training initiatives within the Corporate Business area.
- Undertake additional corporate legal tasks as directed by the Senior Counsel, in line with business requirements.
Experience
Minimum Relevant Experience: Minimum of 4 years legal experience in corporate group of law firms or corporate law department of MNCs.
Minimum Supervisory Experience: N/A
Academic Qualifications
Minimum Degree Held: Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws from an accredited law school in APAC
Subject Expert In:
Certifications Required : Bar certificate in any of the major jurisdictions in APAC, i.e. Singapore, Mainland China, Hong Kong.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluent in English, Chinese or any Asian Languages, both oral and written.
