PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Maintenance Leader is responsible for building a culture with an unconditional stance on safety. This position is accountable to deliver stable and reliable plant operations with a focus on safety, people development, quality, productivity, and cost in a 24/7 continuous operation setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, training, development, and engagement of all maintenance employees. The Maintenance Leader has responsibility for plant capital projects and is the PM Pillar Leader. 

Reports to: Jacksonville Site Leader and will be a member of the Plant’s Natural Leadership Team (NLT)

Span of Control: The Jacksonville Site has approximately 120 employees with one manufacturing line and an Asphalt plant. The Maintenance Leader will lead a team of approximately 19 employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Live the Safety stand and adhere to the safety responsibilities.

  • Ensures a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and builds a culture where safety is always a priority
  • Develops risk assessments and safe plans of action for critical tasks
  • Leads and supports safety initiatives and processes to drive to zero incidents
  • Trains and develops employees to safely perform their jobs
  • Participates in work area self-inspections and accident investigations as well as recommends corrective actions to improve workplace safety

Development and Execution of Plant Maintenance Strategy

  • Determines performance objectives for the plant and maintenance department
  • Ensures maintenance strategy aligns with business strategy and operations plan
  • Develops improvement plans to drive plant operating performance and equipment reliability
  • Executes people strategy including talent development and training
  • Maintains maintenance budget including labor, repairs, replacements
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the end product.

Directing Maintenance Operations

  • Serves as full owner of all maintenance strategies and plans; focused on meeting business needs
  • Prepares capital budget forecasts and effectively manages all capital projects/installations holding to committed results and outcomes
  • Leverages both internal and external resources and experts to improve and extend the service life of current and new equipment
  • Drives continuous improvement, leads root cause failure analysis, and implements countermeasures in accordance with once-and-done strategies
  • Uses analytics to identify opportunities in maintenance costs and machine performance
  • Executes effective PM and work order programs using predictive and preventive technologies
  • Develops and execute TPM & RWP plans
  • Has a pulse on day-to-day operations to understand priorities
  • Effectively collaborates and builds strong relationships with production and technical teams
  • Leading and Developing Talent
  • Ensures maintenance employees are well trained and current on any required certifications to perform the full scope of their job expectations
  • Establishes clear and measurable performance expectations and holds team members accountable for delivering the goals
  • Regularly evaluates the strengths and development opportunities of the team, as well as invests in the growth and development of team members to achieve sustained success
  • Effectively staffs the team by leveraging the appropriate mix of internal and external talent to satisfy both near-term performance and long-term succession needs
  • Builds and leads effective teams who are aligned on goals to increase plant performance
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial manufacturing/maintenance assignments and experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering, Science, Operations, or Business 
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Able to engage and care for people starting with safety
  • Experience leading Reliability Work Process (RWP) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) preferred
  • Excellent at listening to the team, following up on commitments, and building strong teams
  • Strong process, engineering, and technical abilities
