Senior Scrum Master (Remote)

Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Scrum Master to join our Corporate IT team in our Canton, MA; Salem, VA office or remotely nationwide. The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for coaching and supporting a scrum team, helping the team develop an Agile mindset, and adhering to the Scrum framework. The Senior Scrum Master will coach the team to be fully productive, self-organizing, cross-functional, and working at a sustainable pace. The Senior Scrum Master will leverage knowledge of the specialty insurance industry and previous software developing experience to effectively collaborate with the Development Team and Product Owner in the continuous delivery of working software to achieve business value. The Senior Scrum Master will clarify Scrum Team roles and create an environment where the team is able to employ Agile development practices.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies within each sprint: daily scrum, backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective.
• Guide the team to an Agile mindset as described in the Agile Manifesto.
• Instill good Scrum practices, providing ongoing coaching to get the most out of self-organizing, optimization of processes, and maximizing value creation.
• Lead a single scrum team engaged in medium sized projects that vary in complexity.
• Assist the team with the removal of impediments.
• Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgement with an emphasis on problem solving.

Requirements:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A strong commitment to customer service
• Experience using Agile tools
• Solid understanding of scrum principles, practices, and theory
• Experience in Specialty Insurance industry preferred

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or more than 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification strongly preferred
• 1 – 3 years’ experience in Scrum Master role for a software development team
