Summary of Job Duties:

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

3 - 4 Saturdays per year

The Research Associate will work in the Department of Family and Preventative Medicine, Research and Evaluation Division and is responsible for advancing the work of project deliverables in early childhood family engagement grants. This will also include executing training protocols in early childhood education. The position will report to the project Director and Principal Investigator. The Research Associate may promote project activities in the community, engage stakeholders to understand the impact of the project work, adapt project-specific training for unique audiences, and deliver training to early childhood educators. Travel within the state is required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field plus five (5) years of experience in training adults, community research, education, planning, early childhood programs, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Arkansas Driver’s License and ability to travel within AR and outside for training and project meetings as needed.
  • Experience in training, early childhood work, or social sciences.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with community engagement and qualitative research preferred.
  • Experience in community engagement; proficient in creative software like Adobe, Canva, Publisher, etc preferred.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the project director to implement a research-based training intervention designed to increase childcare provider capacity to create positive, goal-oriented relationships with the families of children in their care.
  • Incorporate project objectives, state and national guidelines for family engagement, and recognized standards for quality in early childhood classrooms.
  • Deliver the training intervention, provide coaching towards goal achievement with child care center directors and staff, and collect practice change data by executing the data collection methods for the project.
  • Interact with division and departmental staff as needed.
  • Work statewide to engage stakeholders in early childhood education in order to recruit project partners.
  • Build rapport in this community to engage education partners. This may include the creative design of informational pieces, community outreach campaigns, digital campaigns to promote project deliverables and other engagement strategies.
  • Liaison with the evaluation team regarding community engagement and utilize evaluation feedback to refine the intervention.
  • Work with the team to disseminate intervention findings including conference presentations and publications.
  • Ensure purchasing and travel expenses are submitted to departmental personnel according to UAMS standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
