About the Role

In this role, you will manage a technical design team dedicated to overseeing the entire fit and construction process, from the initial concept to the final product, ensuring that each piece meets Old Navy’s quality and fit standards. Your responsibilities will include managing and providing technical guidance in sewing, construction, fitting, and grading to meet our customers' needs. Additionally, you'll handle fit and construction risk management, effectively troubleshoot fit issues during the development and approval stages and collaborate with the Product Quality Assurance team to resolve any production challenges. Your role will require strong collaboration and influence with cross-functional teams and external vendors, consistently conveying Old Navy's Fit Vision from the initial prototype through to Final Fit Approval across all seasons. Utilizing your expertise in 2D and 3D tools, you'll drive innovation in the fit process, ensuring Old Navy remains at the forefront of industry standards. Leading a team of technical designers, you'll be responsible for their professional growth, empowering them to maximize their potential and contribute significantly to the brand's success.

What You'll Do

  • An expert in Fit, Construction, and Quality, who understands the brand, the customer, and product history and who can consistently execute to a high level of aesthetic and functional requirements.
  • Responsible for fit & construction risk management, plus training & empowering vendors fit technicians. Onboard, train, and monitor vendor performance to conform with Corp/brand standards.
  • Ensures that garment samples conform to corporate specification requirements by conducting fit & pattern evaluations, as defined by brand needs.
  • Provide technical advice & guidance to merchants/ factories to ensure that samples meet defined standards including 3D/Digital Product samples.
  • Partner with the Brand Tech design team & Quality Assurance team to implement best practices and to look for opportunities for continuous improvement in the areas of sewing and construction, fitting, pattern, and grading
  • A natural problem-solver who inspires a solution-centric approach in his/her/their team. Troubleshooting vendor performance on Fit to conform with brand standards to uphold our Brand Power

  • Maintenance and implementation adherence of Fit related SOPs.

Who You Are

  • An advanced understanding and practical application of garment construction, patternmaking, and alterations and grading.
  • Advanced knowledge of garment quality standards, testing, and product safety requirements
  • Proficient in 2D/3D prototyping software (CLO or Browzwear preferred) and PLM software. Well-versed with PLM software and its implementation
  • Ability to assess relatively complex situations and analyze data to make judgments and recommend solutions
  • Proven success in managing a technical team in the areas of sewing, construction, fitting, and grading
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners and Supplier base
  • Ability to create and use interactive tools to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Fit Process
  • Ability to motivate through engagement and team-building measures to retain employees in a positive work environment
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of design, merchandising, and product development priorities
  • Establish and maintain an effective industry network, actively participating in industry associations
